M.I.D letter in the post

got a letter in the post from the motor insurance database saying my car is not registered as insured !!! :astonished:

Anyone else had one of these ? is it cosher or some sort of scam to get me to contact them/register my car ?

Ta

We had one of those, I had entered a wrong character on one of the registrations numbers on the online database thing. Policy was correct, just fat fingers this end!!

I got one for my shed 206 1.4hdi van three weeks after the insurance expiere and then again after 6 months threatening further action possable fine if I didnt declare it SORN or insure it

Just another way for the goverment to get 4% insurance tax out of us whether the cares used or not ~mine was sitting still taxed with a blown turbo~ snapped turbine shaft and eating burning engine oil

New legislation came in this year called C.I.E or continuous insurance enforcement - designed to catch uninsured cars.

Car has to either appear on the MID database or SORNDd. If neither then you get a letter telling you to sort it, then another check and if still not sorted you ge a nice fine ~ 60 I think !

Real pain in the backside for companies - especially ours with 20k + vehicles on fleet, but trying to sort out uninsured vehicle problem is right but not sure this is the solution personally.

What it means is you can’t have a car taxed but not insured even if for instance it is broken, I think the legislation is all wrong :frowning:

I got one too. Called my insurer, he said it was bollox as MID had been informed. There’s a website you can check it yourself on. (and it was on!)

askMID.com

Some insurers aren’t as quick as others to upload new details to it, so don’t be surprised if your car appears uninsured temporarily!
