Luggage: Travelling in an S1 can be so easy :-))))

Hello, I have to share something with you. It was my first longer journey (except some weekend trips) in the S1 since I own the car (February 2007) with my wife - for a week!

Enough clothes and shoes (3 pairs, 4 pairs after the shopping tour in Barcelona…), even the black cocktail dress and plenty of girls stuff, all no problem

Here’s the ‘‘how-to’’:

-put everything into very tiny little small bags
-stuff all the very tiny little small bags into the boot
-don’t forget to get one or two large sportsbags
-drive to any destination you like
-when arriving at the hotel, unpack the very tiny little small bags
-stuff them into the large sportbags
-check in to the hotel of your choice just as a ‘normal guest’

When leaving the hotel, do everything in reverse

(This REALLY is all you need for 2 persons for a week holiday , and it was even more than I thought would be necessary!)

Not only that the ‘luggage problem’ was not a problem at all, also she did not moan at fast corners, about the heat in the car (and, it WAS hot), about 8 hours drives, about driving the car for hours herself, about packing and unpacking all the time for each hotel, she even was a fantastic co-pilot in reading road maps and having water and cigarettes ready at all time.

If it wasn’t my wife, I would say, dream on, that’s not possible

We were doing 3000 km in 7 days trough the mediterranean alps with fantastic roads

with some challenging surprises

fantastic food fresh from the market in Barcelona

and some challenging hotel parkings

On our way back home, we’ve visited Monaco for an hour or so and there was the race track prepared, was fun to do a slow lap with all the tourists traffic

Back home, the Exige did a great job (nothing fell off, no unexpected problems, car was running fantastic) and I know I’ve the best wife in the world

good, isn’t it?

Very impressed! I’ve never put anything in my boot!

Great write up & pics

Just thinking that, good stuff!

Note to myself - take note

There’s even more space in the front - more small bags dropped down into the front wheel arch liners (draw-string bags make it easier to retrieve them as you can hook the string around stuff). You can get a couple of half-filled carrier bags each side.

Just don’t do what we did and use the bags for dirty grots and socks, then re-discover them 2 months later, having been warm and damp

I can’t believe they didn’t cook in the boot !!

good write up!! always makes me laugh squashing everything up into small balls and stuffing it around the car…im goin to the ring end of month so i will take your advice

Great read and nice pics. I take it you didn’t spin the car to face that wall, as there are no skid marks (at least not on the road).

Good work and interesting reading for me; we booked our ferries for our summer trip yesterday, so my brother and I will be taking our two s1 exiges to Spain in July - we are going to cook !

Ferry from Rosyth the Zeebrugge with a view to arriving in Alicante 2/3 days after we arrive in Zeebrugge - taking in Monaco on the way down. If anyone has any ideas for a good route we would love to hear them as we are a bit lost.

My girlfriend is flying out and meeting us there as I couldnt face the moaning all the way there in the car!

I take it you didn’t spin the car to face that wall, as there are no skid marks (at least not on the road).

no- it was just that the road was a dead end so I had to turn the car and drive back

If anyone has any ideas for a good route we would love to hear them as we are a bit lost.

yes, I have may I suggest that you open a new thread on this subject, as I’ve some informations about this area, and in a new thread it might be easier to find for other users in the future?

I’d be more than happy to write down some good places to see on the way to spain ; -)))

And to everyone else, thanks for your replies, and here comes the girl who made me having such a fantastic holiday:

bugger

Surely you didn’t let her in the car wearing those heels?

I’m not surprised you had a good holiday . . .

Surely you didn’t let her in the car wearing those heels?

why not - on the passenger seat she gets in and out wearing heels quicker than I do (not wearing heels )

I wouldn’t let her drive in these shoes of course
