LTS A048 Tyre Compound?

Hey Does anyone know the frt and rear compound for the A048 LTS Yoko’s?

I’m feed up paying the premium when I’m sure I can just buy them in the same compound without being LTS branded.

I’ve just bought a pair of medium rears from Camskill so I’ll report back how they perform and how long they last compared to the standard LTS’s.

Otherwise tempted to try the Toyo 888. I tried these once before but did not get to use them on the track.

Only non LTS compound in M compound .Think they use to do an MH compound which was similar to LTS but no longer available.M compound is so soft it lasts about 20 p c less than LTS so saving isnt that great IMO

Agree with gingerdave M compond last way less than LTS but boy does it grip !!!

Sounds like i’ll be loving it for a couple of tracks then before having to get my wallet out again.

What do you guys think of the A048 versus the R888’s then?

after listening on forums and talking to tyres company eveyone still recommends the yoko ao48 i have them on my car however need to replace the rear ones again how much you pay for the rears?

Unless you’re a true racing god, & qualifying/racing lap times are important, then you won’t know the difference in performance between 48 LTS/48 m or mh/Toyo R888. Even then, you’d probably have to do what Gav Kershaw used to do in the Mid Engined series ie. brand set for qualifying, plus another brand new set for the race. All these tyres perform extremely well on our cars, but that performance does reduce with use.

All are bloody fantastic, & the Yoko m do wear the quickest. Myself, & many others, have found that the front 48s can be impossible to balance after a few trackdays, resulting in horrible steering wheel shake from around 85mph upwards - this doesn’t happen with the R888s.

For us mere mortals, it’s purely down to price/availability as & when you need to buy them.

I’ve done loads of trackdays with all of the above tyres, but have never driven an Exige with Kumhos fitted. The latter are also highly rated by those who have used them.

PS The LTS Yokos use mh rubber on the rear, & m on the front, but also have a slightly different carcass to the the non LTS variety…according to people in the know at the factory ie Gav Kershaw!

I paid 300 from Camskill for a pair of rears excluding VAT, as I live in Jersey.

Unfortunately I’m no racing god and so agree it’s all down to price. I’d have guessed at mh for the rears and medium for the front.

I think i’ll go for a set of R888 next just so I can see how I find them.

Cheers for all the replies.

As a matter of interest, do you “sprint” or “hill climb” your car in Jersey, or do trackdays elsewhere?

Never done any hill climbs or sprints, although i’d like to give it ago just not in my car. Mostly do European trackdays at tracks such as Le Mans, Faye Du Bretagne, Loheac and more recently with LOT at Abbeville etc

Coming to Spa at Easter which should be awesome fun.

Driving here sucks with a 40mph speed limit. It does however mean that buying second hand cars is good as they’re rarely driven hard and have really low mileage. I bought my previous na Exige with 3300 miles on the clock when it was 2.5 years old.

Cheers - I know that driving in Jersey is well, errr, restrictive to say the least, hence my question

Must be great to nip over to France for trackdays, though :sunglasses: I presume that you’re a member of Lotus On Track, but if not, join immediately!

Will be visiting Loheac in September - musuem rather than circuit, as part of 83man’s, & my French Frolic to Angouleme. Not previously been to the Remparts event, but hear it’s rather good

Yeah it’s much easier to get over to France. Yup member of LOT and intend on doing as many days as i can afford  Really want to do Oulton Park but it’s a right hassle to get over to the UK.

Cheers

If you can get to Oulton on 3rd July, that would be fantastic - you’ll love it :sunglasses:

You seem well up on the Exiges, quickie. I think my car has the track pack. It’s an 06 model, any easy way of checking without looking at the dampers to see if they’re adjustable?

Sorry, mate, I’m no expert on EliseCoupes…sorry S2 Exiges

They’ve made so many S2 variants/packs since 2004, (& I’m a died in wool S1 Exige dinosaur), that I don’t even try to remember what’s what with S2s! However, someone else on here will be able to help, I’m sure.

In the market for another set of tyres myself. Looking like it may be the R888 this time as the M compound AO48s seem to have gone up in price. Anyone know where I could get the 48’s for around the 550 mark for a full set?

If you do please let all know as those prices wouild be bargin basement for AO48’s

Honestly think you are being unrealistic in hoping you can get a set of 48’s for that price but very happy to be proved wrong

Best price I got last year was 599 for a set of M compounds from Adam & Page in Wycombe they are officaly tyre supplyer for the LOTDRC series.

Bookatrack also did very good price for the LTS’s last year with free fitment at their track days

Thats probably the quickest way to see as the adjustment knob is easily visable at the bottom of the damper. Other way is to see if you have the rear brace bar. Will need to look at botton of rear suspension to see this

http://www.racetyres.com/ Aparently this place gives discount to seloc members. Prices seem ok when i’ve enquired.

Cheers on the post ref checking for track pack.

Spoke to them Yesterday but unfortunately they are no longer able to supply in Exige sizes.

That sucks
