Just been looking at the benefits of LPG for my runaround and read an interesting article that got me thinking - could you LPG an Exige ?
Based on article one of the benefits is smoother running and increased performance - what do we think ???
one of my friends had an lpg tommi mak evo…
we all asked the question…why!!! ok on your run around, but its a run around for a reason!!!
vpower was produced for another reason…
Only real problem is the room for a tank… You could fit a tank in place of the original petrol tank but because they are cylinder shaped and there is an ullage (i.e. cant be filled beyond 80% of liquid capacity) the capacity would be a bit poor.
There is also the problem that most kits require the engine to first warm up on petrol before it swaps to gas (because injection pulses it uses from petrol need cold running enrichment and lpg doesnt so it would overfuel) so you would also need an area for a petrol tank.
However there is some development using direct injection petrol engines converted to lpg where the fuel is basically replaced in the standard injection kit and power is actually gained over petrol due to the -45c cooling effect on the cylinder of the fuel being injected and a large octane increase.
hmm sorry for the rambling…

^^^^^ new you’d answer that ^^^^^
am I that predictable?
I used to install conversions as a bit of a part time job. Mostly actually I would just fix lots of bodged conversions installed by “specialists” usually gross wiring and set up errors. I still get a few to look at from time to time.
I have ran several gas cars, 750i, 535i, 2 x Honda Integra type R’s, 328i, 147GTA

I used to run around with my auto hero Ak Miller in his twin turbo propane Cadillac,
doing 185 mph down the hwy in the middle of the night back in the early 80"s…
I built my first chargecooler and turbo setup for my R5 Turbo Maxi at his shop.
Look him up, everytime I think back I smile and say to myself I knew the man…
It fookin stinks to high heaven …
Makes me feel sick …just like breathing in fumes off yer combi boiler .
Now methanol is a different story however!
Exhaust only smells if it doesnt have a cat and is running rich. With a cat the exhaust smells like you are burning water.
Filling up can give a bit of a whiff when you release the coupling.
Power with pretty much all standard kits drops power by approximately 15% on NA cars and can actually increase on turbo cars due to octane improvements.

Lol you’re the only alternative fuelled Lotus owner I know
Well yeah there is that… I guess there are not many diesel (vegetable / liquified dinosaur) powered Elise’s on the planet.
It was funny at Donny, the girl in the petrol station asked if the chap with the diesel one was ok? Or did he just fill up with the wrong fuel?
