Ok, I’ve got a louvered rear engine cover for the car and I’d like to fit it. I was wondering what others have done to fit these? Do the hinges etc all get swapped over from the standard engine cover, or can they be fitted with some kind of quick release fasteners allowing it to be lifted off entirely? The car is really standard so I don’t want to do anything too radical.
If standard hinges and catches are the best way, can you still buy these from lotus? If so then I could just fit a second set to the louvered panel?
As nobody has replied I can give you my h’'apth worth."…previous owner of my car fitted a MS cover using the original hinge.
It might need some shims to compensate for thickness variation buy you should be able to just swap the cover on to the existing hinge
Am away at the moment so cant look at it just now.
Doubt if you will be swappong over very often so a little spannering wont take long.
Let us know how you get on.
Your h’'apth worth" is very much appreciated. I thought that might be the case (using existing hinge), and as you say it’s not like I’ll be changing over regularly. Hopefully I’ll manage to get a look at it this weekend. Not too sure if I’ll like it when it’s fitted…but I wanted to give it a try for a while seeing as I had the panel anyway.
In fact…I’ve got a spare one unpainted if anyone wants one!
