Just developed a loud ticking noise from front end. Speed of ticking increases with road speed and stops completely when I touch the brakes.
Any Ideas what it might be ?
I’ve got Ohlins (lower ride height), better AP discs and Pagids.
Many Thanks

Sounds like it could be your brake pads rattling around in the calipers.
Pretty normal with pagids as they don’t come with anti squeal pads. You can fix it with the anti squeal buffers. But they do make the brakes feel very slightly more spongy.
I prefer to live with the rattling, but it’s your choice.
are the anti-rattle springs fitted the right way around? You could try taking them off and bending the top part a little to give it more laoding when its fitted…
I’ve had this on mine, as said above its just the pads moving back and forth in the calipers. Fortunately its very easy and cheap to cure.
Anti Rattle Brake Buffers
They are just little rubber strips that stick to the caliper to prevent the pad moving around. As they are at the ends, and not between the pad and the piston, they don’t increase the sponginess
Not had a problem since.
This may (or may not) be something more serious than just noisy brake pads-- from which side is the noise emanating?
haven’t parked it in east london or high wycombe recetnly have you?
Thanks for all your suggestions. I can’t be 100% sure but I think noise is coming from right side front.
Thanks

E77,
OK – this suggestion may sound strange, but please check this out before you dismiss it and do it soon. Caught early, it’s no biggie; but if I’m correct about the cause of you noise, this issue, unattended, can result in a catastrophic suspension failure.
Remove your front right wheel and check to see if the front pivot bolt for the upper wishbone is loose/backing out (there are two bolts securing the upper wishbone, a front and rear bolt and they are supposed to be of different lengths with the front bolt 5mm longer than the rear bolt). It appears that someone at the factory is installing the same shorter pivot bolts at both the front and rear upper wishbone attachment points on some cars – a big NO NO. This problem will cause a clicking noise that will correspond to wheel rotation (very rhythmic) and the lightest application of the brakes will make the noise go away – off the brakes and the noise returns.
Here’s hoping I’m wrong about your problem.
Thanks Jackson, will check at the weekend and report back.

Do you have any pics or instructions of were to mount these pads, i ordered them after your recomendation from eliseparts, but i have no idea what to do with them
Any help gratefully recieved…

Although the pic shows the pads top and bottom, mines only got them on the lower edge (two pads per caliper) No problems here.

Good job finding that picture. Saves my blushes with paintbrush.
I’ve only got the anti rattle things on the leading edge of the caliper as well.

Thanks, i will give that a try.
Hi Jackson, took the car back to Plans motorsport who checked the car and it was infact the Pagids rattling. I am having some other work done so hope to get the car back in a few weeks with no rattle.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Fantastic – glad the noise was just pads and didn’t portend anything more serious. This is what I found when investigating a ticking noise from my right front.

Frightening! Noticed the pic is named “wrong sized bolt” - was that the issue or was it apparently just not torqued from the factory?
