I have a 06 Exige non supercharger
Looking on the castle lotus website they appear to be offering a fitted supercharger as per exige S for just over 4k to take it uoto the now standard 220 bhp . I only paid 16,500 for my 06 Exige so would this make a cheap 06 Exige S !
Anyone know anything about these genuine lotus upgrade ?
It’ll do exactly what it says on the tin - not a bad upgrade from 190 to 220 for the money.
All my opinion of course…
I am guessing this will be a part that can be supplied to all Lotus dealers if its a genuine part !
Will be on the blower to F1 on monday morning to see what the crack is
Is 220 where you want to be ? Pretty easy to get up to 260 these days.
I’d look at going straight to 260 as the parts you will buy for a 220 upgrade will need upgrading/chucking away if you decide to upgrade later.
Might cost a little more now but would potentially save you some cash later.
220 is pretty last week these days - I’d also try and experience 220 and 260 before you part with the cash - difference will suprise you
Can you suggest anyone to approach about 260 upgrade then ?

What do you use your car for?
Going from 190 to 220+, & for plenty of track use, you’ll need to upgrade brakes/suspension to really benefit from the power hike.
Used day to day at the moment,I am intending on track use shortly , however, not as serious as most on here !
I was really looking to improve the pre 6200k drive of the car . I have heard the exige s drives much better due to the supercharger
Suggest you try a few days with your car on track as it is…then think about possible upgrades.
Mine was a 190 and now i have a supercharger fitted, i went for the Essex Motorsport install for about the same money but you get a bit more power (mines at about 240bhp) one thing to remember though is that you don’t get an intercooler with these upgrades so getting more than 250bhp is unlikely.
Oh and you can’t just bolt a supercharger on as you have to change quite a few parts.
The supercharger doesn’t make it that much faster on the track but it does make it a lot easier to drive on the road.
other option is do what Jonnyfox has done - avoid SC route and focus on weight saving, handling and braking etc
Lot cheaper in the short term but you will crave the extra power at some point.
As Mr Pesky says - attend a few track days, get a few PAX rides in the different spec cars before you start modding
So what was the damage then with them for your upgrade if you dont mind me asking ?
So what was the damage with Essex motorsport, if you dont mind ?
its that drive abilty I suppose I am after
the supercharger kit ur looking at is off the lotus elise SC , so its the mp45 blower, and stuck at 218bhp already maxed out.
if u want any more look at the katana or the VF sc kit which essex do both , i think essex do the kit around 4500 5 k fitted but more power and options for further upgrades.
Essex autosport will do the Katana SC upgrade for just over 4k it will give around 245hp and there are then routes to 300hp, but you will need deep pockets for that level of power
Thats impressive for the money . The lotus supplied one has the advantage of a genuine lotus part but it does sound limited !
lots of thinking to do here ! why is nothing straight forward
Thanks for all the info
Yes the lotus upgrade uses a MP45 SC and has no intercooler, it gives you the same as the Elise SC and it has no real option for more power, with your car been an 06 do you really need Lotus its anymore?
I have various parts sitting on the shelf here (all new). Super charger, inlet manifold, bits of pipes etc. Not complete but would certainly get you most of the way there ( the s/c is over 2k on it own to buy new) give me a pm if interested.
Gav
I’m also interested in upgrading my N/A to an S level.
Cheapest place for the lotus kit is Seriously Lotus, but as said above its maxed out at 220 bhp.
I’ve compiled a list of parts required to upgrade an N/A to an S level.
Can anyone think of something I’ve missed ?
Parts required are:-
ECU + injectors
Inlet manifold + supercharger with pulley, belt & brackets
inter-cooler with pipes & brackets
temperature sensors for inter-cooler with wiring back to ECU
Anyone done this upgrade?
Parts are being removed from an Exige 240 that’s having an engine conversion.
Cheers
