Not sure if any one can help on this… I have just got a new key from lotus and cant for the life of me get it programmed to work with the car- i dont suppose anyone here knows if there is any tricks to it?
Did they given you an instruction sheet with it ?
I ordered a key a while ago and have got the sheet that i could forward on to you if it helps ?
yeah got instructions but does not seem to do anything after lots of trys… have spoken to lotus tech dep and im sending it back to be re-programmed- as aparently it might be that the alarm has used this position before… if the re-programme does not work then i will have to get the alarm reset i think 
sounds expensive!
