Bugger, I forgot about you Mike, should have barred you from entering !! Anyway you are only half right, yes its a Bean 14 tourer from 1925 though not 1923 so only half a point for that
Yep made in Birmingham, a real quality car in its day.
This is where I found the Bean, the guy has about 70 classic cars stored in several barns, I managed to buy 9 cars, there was some really good stuff but he wont part with anything else yet, its a real shame, they are just left not used and its very near the coast so the salty air is slowly eating them away.
My immediate reaction was a MG or Morris Minor but they should have a centre spar on the cowling I think so I’m going to plump for BSA although I’m not totally confident.
Ah ha, rare bird indeed. I don’t feel so bad now. SU stands for Skinner Union. I’ve a feeling I was reading about this car a few months ago but I do so much research that I’m not sure it was this one but it was definitely a one-off.
Here you go this is pretty easy, this had been stood since 1946 !!
I put it on ebay and the previous owners son recognised the reg number on the listing, he sent me a picture of it on Ainsdale beach with his mum stood at the side of it !!
His dad sold it in 1940, that’s 73 years ago and it gets spotted whats the chances of that ?
