LOTUS ON TRACK DAY SILVERSTONE MARCH 18TH 2010

Lotus On Track day…

OPEN pit lane!!!

… a great season opener I reckon, esp as the GP is back there next year!

I have booked, so has JonnyFox (needs to test how well the new wing is glued on before Anglesea!!!)

Lets get a few Exigers there!!! (YES… I KNOW mine is now an Elise!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR BOYS!

Yep come on join me and Darth Vader…Full GP 199

I’m not naming names you know who you are…the more the Merry…er!

Happy New Year

Anyone else!!!

This will be a great ‘season opener’

hey ive never been on the track with my eixge before, is this a good starter track as im a complete novice. ive done track days b4 but not in my own car. ALWAYS wanted to drive round silverstone but if there is a better suited event later on in the year for me at silverstone then i will go to that, might turn up and watch you guys

Silverstone is a great track to drive as a ‘first timer’.

It is very wide, with lots of good ‘run-off’! Not that you will need that, but it help with the confidence not having the hard things too close!

There is a good mix of fast flowing bits, plus a few tighter corners. The straights are long enough to go pretty quick too!

I did my first ever track day here… in fact it was this that was the start of my Lotus ownership! I had done an ‘experience’ day in a boggy basic Elise and just could not believe how well it went! HUGE smile on face!

SO… GO for it! To own an Exige and not to track it is like having a pint glass with no beer in it!

Well put, Pierre

You wonder where Pete’s from…NOT!

With Lotus on Track Nitro, good company, like minded people and plenty of instruction! Good and safe place to start. You’d be welcome to pop over for a pax from either of us to dip your finger

It is a ‘no novice/beginner’ day though. Not meaning to disagree with the peeps above but it has got a fair few corners to learn as a first day and some of the lines are not what you might expect. I would suggest a mail to Paul before you book, he may be ok with it as long as you give him some warning as he can get you to have your instruction session first thing. (I believe that newbies still get 1 session free, maybe worth another after lunch). Silverstone does have a couple of corners that can bite, especially in the wet and the long straights can amplify the speed difference of cars (although allow for easy passing).
I’m not saying don’t do it, but in my experience silverstone can attract a few morons so watch your mirrors or take a pax that can for you.

Nitro is a local Essex boy - so the obious choice would be Snetterton, an excellent novice track.
It’s easy to get sidetracked with the romance of Silverstone and it is a very technical circuit and one day not getting Silverstone ‘right’ could put you off for a lifetime of trackdays.
My advice would be Snetteron, more local, cheaper and an easier track to learn and hone your driving skills.
More run-off than you can shake a stick at and quite a safe track (except if your brakes fail at 130mph down Revett Straight…)

Good luck

Are you there Neil, made any plans yet?

cool thanks for the advice so looks like snetteron as a starter. what is a pax, couple of people have said about it?

Passenger ride

Nope, i’ve had a couple of good days there but some real rubbish ones too. I think more fun can be had elsewhere (snetterton is ace Nitro, you wont go wrong there).

Well put, Pierre
I thought it was a bit flat for you?

Ian

It is, but Pete’s reply was addressed to Nitro  Would definately like to drive it again, but not in preference to, in no particular order: Oulton/Donington/Anglesey/Cadwell.

Talking of flat, where’s B…th…eeee???

Bump

It’s getting closer…ever so

Anyone else joining the Assuie speaking Bristolian in the 160bhp S2  or and me in my kind of looking maybe an Exige S2…kind of thing  ?

You’ll be able to see Pete looming large when you glance across at yer 32" in-car telly - assuming X-Factor has finished.

OH YEA

I should up date the other thread, MK1 was shit

& in HD

[color:#33CCFF]Unfortunately Ive just received a call from Silverstone to say that the Grand Prix circuit wont now be ready for our event on 18th March. They apologised profusely and obviously did everything they could to get us running two weeks ago on the new Stowe when other days were cancelled.

Looking at the work and investment Silverstone are making although this is a huge disappointment, especially as it now creates a lot of work as well as messing you all around the long term for Silverstone looks great.

We WILL now run on the new stowe circuit on the 18th March instead for those who want to but places are limited on first come basis as its a smaller circuit. I think the vast majority who drove it last earlier in the month enjoyed it so still a chance for you to be at Silverstone.

What we doing Pete?

Bugger. I was just about to book that day up as I wanted to test the car out for the first time since it’s adjustments.

I’m going to book Brands open pit on 18th through MSV instead then @179.
