Just a quick thanks to Russ & Adey @ Lotus Motorsport for their help & efficient service (again) last week.
My car was at Martins for a service/MOT, & hopefully a cure for the long travel brake pedal on track.
The latter has occurred (only on track) after fitting the front 4 pot calipers, whilst retaining the oem rear calipers (ie handbrake!). The brakes were always fine, for slowing, but on track, the increased pedal travel made heel & toeing a bit difficult, but not impossible. Last year, I bought one of Geary’s bigger bore master cylinders, which Martin fitted, but it didn’t really improve the situation (although I felt happier, after replacing the original 7 year old jobbie!). After a chat & guidance with Russ, I ordered 2 Motorsport master cylinders/seperate clutch reservoirs (Martin wanted a kit for his car too), which Adey immediately despatched to Martin as the car was booked in for an MOT 3 days later. Although I’ve not driven the car in anger yet, Martin assures me that there is a very noticeable improvement in pedal feel ie it’s now rock hard again, as it was before the 4 pot upgrade.
So, once again, credit given by me where credit is due, & that of course includes the Edwards Boyz who look after my car as if it were their own pride of you!
Benja/Con, are you listening?
PS Passing the MOT on Thursday enabled me to renew the road tax online, over the weekend - must say I’m impressed with the DVLA system for this, which I’ve used for a couple of years now for all my cars.
Yes with much interest - as you know its been driving me nuts.
When you’re ten or so hard laps around somewhere like Donington and the travel is still short then I’ll be convinced.
Fair point Benja
However, given the age of our cars, & the use they have had/will get, I took the view that it would be a very good idea to renew the master cylinders in any case - it’s one thing having a long pedal, but having no pedal at all would be summat else!
are you sure youre legs just arent that bit to short so youre having to stretch a bit further to get them to work and cant depress the pedal all the way down?

From what I have read, the standard ones are well up to the job!
Had a blast at Donny with Martin in the SC Honda and we were doing about 135 at the end of the straight… I get to 125 in the ‘K’… so thats only 10 mph less. Surprised that would really make much difference in energy/heat absorbtion/dissapation???
Having said that I got bad brake fade too!!! But that was with rubbish fluid… R600+ going in soon!

Yeah, Con, he’s got a point there
Genius - yeah Con stop f’in about spending money on the brakes and start fixing the root cause…
