Lotus GT racing in Australia update

Thought I would update you on the Lotus Elise Motorsport running in the Australian GT Championship.

The car is running a supercharged Honda K20a using a Link-Up conversion. This car has been developed over the past 2 years by Jeff Kimmings here in Australia with advice from Simon Scuffham and is now running at the pointy end of the grid.

Round 1 at the A1GP meeting at Eastern Creek the car showed good speed and was 1 second quicker than last year.

Round 2 was last weekend at the Clipsal 500 meeting at the old F1 circuit at Adelaide. Peter Lucas, car owner and driver, has some very important work commitments and stood aside to allow his co-driver Scott Bargwanna to drive the car for the meeting.

Scott did an incredible job on a very demanding track to finish second in all three races against some VERY serious competition.

That Ferrari is arguably the fastest Ferrari GT3 car/driver in the world and just look how close the finishing gap was. :clp

My congratualtions to Scott and the whole team, your hard work is paying off.

Just thought you all might be interested to see that a little Elise can still be a giant killer in the right hands.

The car.

Thats an impressive set of results.

There is no doubt the Elise would have the advantage in the corners and adding the power to make the power/weight competitive makes for a very interesting proposition.

Homologation rules in Europe prevent this kind of car running in high-level GT racing.

Well done, must be a great feeling.

Well done all, nice to see a Lotus at the pointy end with some very stiff competition
Must have rubbed a few people up the wrong way

That is just awesome. The fastest lap times are are amazing aswell, with the Exige and the front running Fezza being 2 seconds or more faster then anyone else in all the races.

Must have rubbed a few people up the wrong way

Particularly this bloke:
