Lotus F1

Ok so are they related or not? I thought that they were supposed to be and on the official F1 site they have links under ‘the family’ to both group lotus and classic team. However I cannot find links back from Group or Classic to the F1 site?
Also there is no mention on the Group lotus site of the F1 team, however they do say that they are entering Indy this year and the Indy car has the official logo (I notice the F1 team does not).

On a different note the Group lotus site mentions a new link up with Cosworth for the indy car and that they plan to develop high performace engines for the road cars…
So is this old news? Have I been away too long
I am thinking a Cosworth Esprit sounds quite nice.

Well the F1 team is a commercially separate entity for sure. So purely from that point it’s not related.

HOWEVER.

Lotus Cars have allowed them to use a sequential type number (Type 127). The FIA will record any results they have as additive to the existing Team Lotus results (As in championships/victories etc), and I read yesterday that Clive Chapman gave Tony Fernandes Colin’s old hat with the instructions that he may throw it into the air, Chapman style, when Lotus racing returns to the top step of the podium.

I’d also say that Lotus Racing will grow closer links to Lotus as time goes on as it’s mutually beneficial for them to do so.

You definitely have too much time on your hands! Have you retired?

Nah, was hoping to watch the Scousers get stuffed, but that’s not happening, & I missed Panorama too(!!!). So resorting to drinking some vino, posting on here…

Any road up, shouldn’t you be at work inventing some stories to fill them pages?
