im looking at getting a lotus 2-11 that i will be using in the lotus cup uk so track upgrades preferred like accusump, plumbed in fire extinguisher etc. any spec and year considered.
Me an phil are planning to buy one between us to enter cup uk so both exiges wont be needed aswell, so can either do a deal on either a 59reg facelift exige s or an 05 exige with katana super charger etc. Or good old fashioned cash
Chris, I am going to start a new savings scheme. Every time you or your brother change your mind, or your cars, I am going to put 1 in a bottle. I reckon by the time im 50, I will be able to retire.
I looked at the one at Hilton and Moss and it has been mostly tacked and raced, has a few war wounds as well it was at 35k when I looked at it which was too much, but a bit better at 29k.
Sean you’ve gotta try them all out haven’t you lol. We were going to convert Phils one to cup uk spec but cost of converting v buying a 211 that won’t need much spending on it out weighed converting the exige.
I seen scotty was looking at selling on seloc so sent him a u2u on there about a week ago but no reply yet.
I’ve at least decided I want to stick with the Toyota engine purely for reliability. We have done 4 track days now in Phils exige without a single problem and that’s a record for us lol.
Hmmm, nice price for a track car but for racing there is more to spend -
Full roll cage (I wouldnt race a 2-11 now without one after seeing a few nasty crashes in them)
Extinguisher and cut outs
Minimum 260 ECU (more likely you will need the 270 upgrade for next year which is far more than just a reflash).
Rear wing
Change the dampers to at least the gt4 settings on the ohlins if not change them all together… (quite a few of them are running the ohlins ttx which are a far superior race damper).
I’m sure there are other things…
Perhaps best to look for a well looked after race car to start with (mines not for sale btw), Scotty’s would be a good start, he’s away on the frolic atm.
I also know this car, was another one that lived local to here. From memory it has the 260 reflash but doesn’t have the big brake kit. A well cared for car in good condition and probably the best value 2-11 on sale if you want a road/track car.
As Gav says, Scott’s is probably a better proposition for race use.
I have a set of gt4 spec ohlins that I bought and are actually currently fitted to my exige but will be coming off as soon as I find some cheap bilsteins to put on in place ( anyone that has any that want to sell pm me )
I agree about the cage. If I do buy one it will have a full cage fitted.
