Thanks so much guys. I am gutted by this after the loss of my boat just two weeks ago… It was like loosing my job and best friend…
The boat was such a major part of my life for the last 16 yrs. it’s hard to explain the relationship between a captain and his sail boat…
The boat was alive, you could feel everything through it’s rudder and hear the rigging talk as it would creak and take set and transfer all the winds power into torque to move ronin through the swells…Even though it was 61ft it felt like a sport boat always wanting to be fine tuned and reward me with more power. It was my sanctuary my fortress of solitude to take out when the Lotus was in need of repair and think of how I could make it better…
I felt like I had two very demanding mistresses and an unbelievable understanding wife over the years…
Now I just have the most amazing wife on the fuckin planet, she feels my pain and knows what this all meant to me…
The Lotus may live again, I’ll know better this afternoon but I’ll never be able to replace the ronin since I was under insured and just too fuckin old for another mistress…

Agree with the sentiments about some of the comments on other forums, some people really are just idiots. I’m always up for having a bit of banter but some of that is just nasty and trying to kick a man when he’s down sucks.

Phew! Frank we miss you badly. Pesky, GP_Fisher and I were out up the canyons of the Lake District at the weekend and we all asked where you’d gone. Now we know. ouch that is a nasty turn of events. if there is any small consolation, i suppose either could have been pretty drastic in terms of your own safety.
