Has anyone got an lsd (atb type) fisted to there car? If so how do you get on with it? I have the opportunity of fitting one in my car and wondered if it’s actually worth spending the money on and what benefits it will give?
Cheers Mark
S1 or S2?
S1 with a supercharged Honda.
I have 1 of the 3 criteria ( supercharger, but a s2 and 2zz ) but I cannot imagine the car without a LSD.
Ok, what reasons for not having one? I’ve raced mine and now do trackdays with some road use in between but have never used an lsd, so trying to find out if and why they are better.
For me on track its about being able to do two things with the lsd fitted :
1 ) get the power down earlier and rather than spinning just one of the tyres
2 ) predictability. I find cars with LSD a lot more predictable and able to mask my skill and talent.
In a supercharged s1 for me I could easily justify the costs. Thats a lot of power to lose spinning just one tyre.
Ok, that makes sense. I’m guessing I have my car set up pretty well as I rarely spin up the wheels, or it could be my gentle driving technique . Think I need to drive one really to compare. Also wondering if it will add anything to resale value?
Your map might have something in it to prevent sudden power, so many variables.
I dont think it will add much to resale, but it would to desirability,
I have an S2 and I’d love to do a back to back comparison with an LSD equipped car. I get inside wheelspin on occasion but generally the car has far more grip than I’m able to exploit, but I do wonder how many doors would be opened if I had an LSD on board!
Knowing the issues the C64 may have at somepoint in the >260bhp region I expect I’ll be having an opportunity to lob a diff in at some point in the future
Only my right foot to prevent/give sudden power😆
Desirability is a good point though.
Very little to lose by adding an LSD, the changes I noticed on track, are
Earlier on the power in tight corners
Much more sure footed in the wet and gave a lot more confidence
Only downside I ever found was that it could push on and make the car understeer a little more, that was never an issue though
Yes.
You can do doughnuts.
I must now doughnut the 340R
