Lightweight crankshaft pulley Q

I’ve bought it from Eliseparts some time ago. Then Ive read some threads about engine damage caused by lightweight crankshaft pulleys.
Is it safe to use eliseparts one on a standard VHPD engine or crankshaft with this pulley balancing required? What would You recommend me to do?

With any change to the rotating mass that is the crank set, balancing is required if you are doing a proper job.

On a standard VHPD crank it’s safer to use the standard pulley, but you can machine off the auxiliary to lose some weight, the rubber insert in the standard pulley protects the crank from certain resonances. An aftermarket steel crank can cope with a lightweight pulley better simply because it’s stronger. Any crank and pulley set benefits massively from a full balancing.

Thank You for your help. I think I will keep it till serious work with the engine is required.

I’d bin it mate or sell it to some one with a Freelander. Did EP also say it would help protect you from head gasket failure?
