Lightweight battery

My Odyssey 680 has just given up on me after a good few years use. Does anybody have any good recommendations for an alternative lightweight battery without spending daft money?

Not really, most people seem to use the 680

680 i think is the best option for money and weight

Agreed. Albeit with name change:

If weight is your main goal:

Amazing!!!

I think the lightweight battery is an unconvenience , they don’t hold the charge for more than a week, they might be small , light et al , but does that matter that much on a road going car ??

Just fitted a new battery (odyssey pc680 again), ditched the battery clamps and posts this time as always found them a pain for quick battery changes, using spanners was too fiddly, so straight in and out with the allen keys now.

Anyone with experience from Ballistic EVO2

Some guys in Australia are using them without issue, I put one in my cousin’s Harley Davidson and it works great.

Got a pc680 this week. Did look at ballistic and shorai etc but really they’re not designed for what is subject it to and need a charger than can balance the cells (better ones have the conditioner built in) and running two is an option but needlessly complex wiring and bracket wise.

My 680 is 8 years old now usually kept on a charger . Its been fine so far but is there a way to check its fitness ?
I dond want it failing on me unexpectidly.

LOL. Went to give the car a run out today and despite it being on trickle for the last couple of months it wouldn’t crank. Ho hum. Ordered another pc680 as its the least hassle option. < £90 delivered.

Out of interest was that a “simple” trickle charger, or something more sophisticated like a CTEK?

CTEK 5.0. Never had a problem but the battery is now about 4 years old and the car hadn’t been run since November. Shame on me.

So new battery arrived today, but before fitting it I tried starting the car. Started first time. Difference between today and Sunday was that the CTEK was set to cold weather setting which is supposed to be better for the Odyssey batteries and it was showing good charge. I think I might have been a bit to quick ordering a replacement.

I’ll keep the new one as a spare as with the weight it isn’t worth posting on, but if anyone was looking for one I could bring it to Anglesey.
