Lightend flywheel

I am looking for some advice, is there anything to be gained or lost by fitting a lightweight flywheel when I do my clutch this winter ? I have only ever driven one other Exige that had one and it kept stalling as you slowed down at road junctions, but not sure if that was the aftermarket ECU, mapping or something else. I dont want to take any driveability away from the car but if it spins up a bit faster that can only be a good thing, can it ?

Dual edged sword.

Less mass on the flywheel means more eager to rev
Less mass on the flywheel means easier to stall and cant wont coast quite as far.

I have had a few cars with extreme lightened flywheels and some with minor added lightness .

Neither caused me much issue TBH

I think it’s a case that not all lightened flywheels are made equal… you can go too far at which it can be a little harder to ‘catch’ the revs on the way down, leading to the odd stall etc.

I believe Lotus fitted one to the 260 Cup cars, when I come to do my clutch I’ll be looking for one which closely matches the weight of that.

Agree with Andy.

You get used to the characteristics of the lighter flywheel and accommodate accordingly.

I see Deroure list a lightened flywheel, wonder what weight it is

I have the Eliseparts one on mine… I have the manual throttle which is more susceptible to stalling AND a Komotec map - It defo revs faster but doesn’t really have a stalling problem
