Left hand drive. Is there more room on the right?

In a right hand drive car there seems to be more room on the right (UK) drivers side then the passenger side.

On a left hand drive car is this still the case, is there still more room on the right then on the left?

Edit to say: This can be seen just by looking down at the seat runners on both sides.

Thanks

The drivers seat is closer to the centre of the car, or at least it is angled that way as part of the driving position designed into the elise from day 1.

Someone will now correct me & say otherwise, but on this occasion I think I’m right :sunglasses:

Having spent several hours modifying brackets for my new seats I found that the left side has slightly less space due to the shape of the shifter turret. On the S2 the reverse part of the linkage protrudes into the passenger side more.

Yep thanks guys this I know, I need to know if it is the same of left hand drive cars as well?

The driver’s side on my LHD has more space than the passenger’s side. It is not much though.

I have measured the distance between the 2 plastic sidesills and the center console with the handbrake doesn’t sit precisely in the middle of the cabin. It is displaced about 1,5 cm to the right (from the center).

Hope that helps Jonny.

That’s great Joel thank you buddy.

The drivers side on both LHD and RHD is given more room than the pax.

If you look at the runners on the drivers seat the bolt holes on the legs are parallel with each other. On the pax side because they have given less room if the legs were parallel the outside leg would hit the sill so they kick that leg inwards by about 5 degree or so… Yes it’s a complete pain in the arse if you want to put other seats in on different brackets…
