leaky roof, wet headlining - help?

Hi, just picked up an exige s on friday via a private sale and after driving the 10 hours home yesterday in the rain have found out that waters getting into the roof lining, i assume through the scoop. I’ve searched on net and seems quite common but no ones posted a solution. I’ve removed the roof to allow everything to dry but does anyone know how to fix this? I’ve looked at removing the roof lining but its glued on, can this be gently pulled away from the panel and if so will it help any eg uncover the possible leak site to silicone it up? Thanks greatly for any help, sc

Can’t help with the roof…

360 to the Exige? Now I thought going from a CSL to Exige was poles apart!!!

Welcome mate

2 doors, mid engined, rwd, noisy exhausts, both leak water…

I had this on my old N/A, presuming its not under warrenty. I just got a silicon gun and from the rear of the roof pumped some in and used a stick to spread it along the seam. I did this with the roof vertical on its side so the silicon could settle. TBH it didnt look the neatest but once back on you couldnt even see it.

thanks, its along the lines of what i was planning. car was out of warranty at start of october and owner didn’t know about it as he never ran it in the rain much. Probably not get that much use in the wet with me either but would still like to fix it. Not much chance of a goodwill gesture from lotus either by the look of some posts and speaking to the dealer about other warranty things :frowning:

mine leaks at the windows and soaks the lining above the windows, god knows where to start, seals are good greased seals up window is up enough and still leaks

Ash that sounds like the same thing mine did, reearched everything and every seal. Did the inside of the roof vent and it stopped. The water seeps between thetwo skins of the roof and end up dripping through the liner above the side window.

yea just undone one of the bolts and noticed that the bolt has rust on it… hmm water never goes up always goes down so will look at filling it in soon enough you got any pics of where you put the silicon?

no i havnt sorry, its just internally of the roof duct on either side. unless you have a small child on hand then you will need a stick or something to poke in and spread the silicone. i did each side on a separate night with the roof on its side to let it soak in.
