I realise that most of you probably live South of the Border, but I thought that some of you may be interested in the following. It promises to be a great Lotus centred weekend, and Exiges.com are welcome along for the Friday track session, and the weekends events.
Cheers

"I had a surprise phone call from Stuart Gray this morning, who is the Managing Director of KH.
The Classic Speedfair is on again this year on Sunday 8th June, last years tt2007 date, and it is also the 60th Anniversary of the start of Lotus, and the 40th Anniversary of Jim Clark’s death. As such Stuart wants to make it even more of an event this year, and based around Lotus, particularly cars from the earliest to the latest. Normally all show cars must be pre 1982, but that will not apply this year.
However this is going to be great news for Scottish_Elises, as he wants me to help organise it. His idea is to try and put together the biggest gathering of Lotus models ever seen in Scotland, alongside all the other Classic cars, which will all be pre 1982. On top of that we will have our own 30min Lotus track session for upto 35 cars, alongside a similar one for the Ferraris. This will be open pit lane and run the same way as SIDC and tt, ie drive fast but safely, and no spin offs that would close the track.
I can therefore invite as many Lotus’s as we can put together for the static display, and they will also line up on track and probably do a procession lap, and hopefully break any record if there is one.
For the track session, I do not have a confirmed number yet, but I would think around 20 if Stu gets 15 Classic Lotus’s pre Elise 1996 age. I could not get everything completely free, but everyone parading their Lotus will get half price admission, and the track session will be free.
Stu is meeting with members of the Lotus Club on Tuesday, and I will meet up with him after that. I do not doubt that I will have any problem getting 20 cars for the track, but for now I would like to start a list of all those that would like to attend and show and parade their cars, and I will decide later how to pick the ones going on track. For you polishers there will also be a Concours display and competition.
The day itself should be a great family day out, some of you probably went last year, and apart from all the Classic cars, and now some modern ones, there will be stunt displays, aerobatics, and the various Marquees and exhibitions that go along with it. Plus ex racing drivers and motoring celebrities, Clive Chapman, not sure about Page 3 girls though.
Full details of the day are not yet up on KH’s site, but will be when it is closer to the time.
Cheers

Hi tut,
Good to speak today. I am keen to really make a huge Lotus celebration at the Classic SpeedFair in June and outline the vision at the moment.
I have meetings with Club Lotus next week, intend visiting Donington in March and have a stand at Stoneleigh Race Retro too, so content will be added too, as the weeks and months go by.
The idea at the moment is:
7 June Duns / Chirnside / Duns Castle
A major gathering of Lotus and key cars and people associated with Jim Clark, for a road closure parade on Duns High Street, followed by a major dinner at Duns Castle.
8 June - Knockhill
All key cars, people and owners descend on Knockhill for a major element of the Classic event. Track parade opportunities of special cars, owners open track time (30 mins) & interviews. The national and local owners club want it to be the LARGEST EVER GATHERING OF LOTUS EVER IN SCOTLAND. Depending upon numbers, we want to have a track invasion of Lotus for a mass photoshoot of all cars on track together, which should be spectacular.
I will keep you posted of all the developments, but feel free to call 07971 617150 or 01383 745601 anytime for an update.
Regards,
Stuart Gray
"Stuart just called me with an update on his meeting with the Lotus Club this morning, and we have decided to go with the following format.
We will now have two track sessions, one for the Classic Loti and one for S_E.
Bad news is that these will have to be cut back to 20 mins for each Group, good news is that I can now put 35 cars on track for the session, and at present there are 33 in the Database that wish to go on.
We will make the most of the 20 mins though, straight out on track in line then back in on the chequered flag. If I can sweet talk an extra 5 mins on the basis that we will be a crowd pleaser, with what looks like racing, but is really just showboating, so much the better Trackdays are usually limited to 25 cars on track at a time max, so this is a newbie.
It does mean however that we will not be taking Joe Public passengers, but of course we can take our own friends/families.
All Lotus’s on the day will be lined up and showing in the car park overlooking the Hairpin. The Lotus Club will be setting up a large Marquee that will have show cars in covering the 60 years of Lotus cars. I think that will be around a dozen, including a couple of Jim Clark’s cars, so though I do not yet know our involvement, I would expect at least an Elise and an Exige, and hopefully a 340R. These would be display cars though and would not go on track. Scott’s Marquee would be alongside.
The remainder of both the Classic cars and ourselves would be lined up single file in the car park, as Stuart put it, as far as the eye can see
As regards Saturdays events, I believe that we are welcome to join in with Club Lotus, who are meeting up at KH around 0900, and then following their usual format for the Duns join up, and a road run in the afternoon. The same applies to dinner in the evening at Paxton Hall, but I do not have details yet.
Now for the part that feels as if I am organising tuttowers again…
Friday is taken up with practising and qualifying for Saturdays races. These will be part of the Scottish/UK racing series, but also for two Classes of Ferraris that have their own race series. These are all cars that are there for the weekend, and will be running until 1700.
He has offered me the track from 1800-2000, usual tut towers format, not free as they have to cover their costs for the whole set up, but as low as he can go. If I can get 50 cars this would be for 40, so well below normal.
However, considering the number of cars and drivers, exhibitors etc that will be on site for the weekend, it could be a great outing for S_E, and this would be an opportunity to take out passengers.
Sounds as if we could have a great track session with a good social occasion as well, as after watching last years DVD, there will be some fantastic cars there along with lots of interesting enthusiasts.
I will put an extra column in the Database for this, so again feel free you 7 and Exige owners to put it forward to your own groups.

I think that I have covered everything, but please feel free with any suggestions.
