K20a2 Swap

After calling a few people i’ve just booked my S1 in for a K20a2 conversion starting next week.

I’ve gone with Sinclaires, there are clearly a few people very capable of doing this, but Wayne has been very helpful and accommodating.

So i’ve opted for the engine transplant, secondary fuel pump, quickshift, Kpro, dyno map, some additional heat shielding and a 2bular exhaust manifold and back box.

I appreciate that suspension and possibly brake upgrades should be next on my list, i’ve about run out of cash for now, but is there anything else i should be thinking about while the clams off and engines out?

I use the car mainly for trackdays with a little bit of road use. I need it to be reliable and i’m not trying to squeeze the last second out of a lap time, just have fun driving.

Baffled sump for trackdays

Sounds like you have ticked most of the boxes. Are there any choices on the induction kit?

Also, browing recently I noticed that Elise Shop offer an uprated fuel pump Designed specifically to remove the need for a secondary pump and swirlpot when supporting high output engines.

I’m planning on s/c eventually, i’ve got plenty of learning to do at 200bhp. The fuel pump it there for that, i was going spec the manifold and exhaust for a s/c but after speaking with Jim at 2bular a can see that would quite severely impair the N/A performance in the meantime.

Sinclaires include the baffled sump with the kit, i’ve noticed some discussion about accusump as well, how does that system work?

Thanks Steve, that looks great, i didn’t really understand why the existing pump wasn’t upgraded. That looks a much tidier solution. And cheaper too.

I’ve not discussed induction, they use a modified K&N on a alloy pipe as far as i know, i’m not sure how, or if that mates up to the duct.

You dont need the Acusump if you have a baffle.

Are Jims manifolds ready then? Last time I spoke (recently) he was still in the process of the 4-1 version?

I spoke to Jim yesterday and they’re close, i’m hoping to get something from him in 3-4 weeks.

I was just curious how the accusump worked after reading the thread in S2 forum, i was assuming that the head oil starvation is trait of the toyota engine and the baffles will be enough to keep the oil level over the feeder pipe in a K20
