At last I have my sump off the engine and I see the old style oil rail (ladder) there.
Is it vitally important to change it to a new style rover one or it’s not a big deal?
I haven’t heard about much troubles with it.
Need Your advice.
I think the new style oil rail was introduced as part of a major fix along with the MLS head gasket kit which torques the main bolts up higher - requiring the new oil rail.
You can still fit the new type oil rail if you’re using the original type main bolts and an elastomer gasket but there’s no major advantage in doing so. No disadvantages either though…
Thanks for your reply. Now the puzzle is solved for me.
But as the engine after 8000 km is looking fine from inside we decided not to deal with HG modifications now.
