Well its been a hell of a week trying to wrap up business before christmas due to the turn in the weather then tonight I figured I would do one last job when whack a young lad has driven straight through the back of my van.
The back end is a bit of a mess and the doors will not close so now I am pretty stuck, I am sat here trying to cancel work still not had my tea and feeling pretty deflated (read as de-flat-ed), I need some exigers to cheer me up.
Good luck with that…
Shut your eyes and remember that perfectly held slight drift through your favourite bend on a sunny day.
Chin up!
Ian
Hi Mate
You did sound a bit down when we spoke earlier. However, you’ve done nowt wrong, & your no claims won’t be affected.
Hopefully the good folks at Europa Consultants will sort you out with some other wheels early on tomorrow - you don’t want to be seen driving a soft top Mini around over Christmas time do you?
Keep yer pecker up
Cheers guys, Dad I don’t think she’ll let me near the Mini, especially not now I have history
I cringe to say it but I feel like I just got a Viagra stuck in my throat and feel a bit sick (that might just be from not eating though).
I dont think the lad was looking, (probably texting or something) as the witness said he did not brake before he hit me and considering I was moving the vans a mess and the impact was pretty hard.
I just got off the phone to his Dad though who said his son says he was doing around 7mph when he hit me, I did not like to argue so I said to leave it for the insurance as they have admitted liability (well he said).
But at 7mph he did bloody well to catch me and smash both my rear doors to the point that they will not close
I am trying to cook a steak now (stephs working late) with oven chips and trying to work out if stella will work as a pain killer.
Thst is a right downer…
On the bright side, at least it was not into the rear of the 211 Eliminator job!
Keep positive… and only 3 days to Crimby!
Sorry to hear that matey but bear in mind it could always be worse, it was in no way your fault and nobody hurt…
…and now you’ve got an excuse to crack open the advocaat make yerself a snowball, put your feet up, Christmas has arrived
Sorry Andy …

I thought bumpers these days were designed to withstand impacts of about 5mph with no damage? Hmm.
That’s tough. Hope things are looking better this morning. Hope the Stella helped. And the steak.
Ian
7mph was the speed quoted by the young lad…from what Boothy told me, sounds like he was doing considerably more than that.
Mate if you need a van for work, I have a Merc Sprinter you can borrow. It is currently just sitting around doing nothing at my mates house in Essex (he borrowed it to move house)
Sean…
Hi Guys,
Thanks very much for all your kind words and to Sean for the offer of a van
I have been in touch with Steve at Europa and they are on the case, hopefully I will have a van by about 3pm today and mine should be going into the bodyshop at the same time.
Just canceling work now which is abit depressing and then I am going to try and get over to an OAP with no heat as its not a bad area so I can risk the van doors.
Thanks again guys, exigers are a top bunch!
Boothy
Bad luck Andy, but thing are looking up and it what we all have insurance for let them take all the pressure and don’t let it ruin Xmas
Having had a good look at the van today it seems the load bay floor has pushed up under impact as all the ply liner has raised and you can see the floor pushing it up.
Does anyone know if that kind of damage can be repaired as I am guessing thats part of the shell and not something thats just bolted in place.
Is is front or rear wheel drive?
I think he will reply that it used to be rear wheel drive but is now front wheel drive!
LOL @ Pete, Its front wheel drive.
I dunno about vans but the traditional method of repairing similar damage in boot floors of cars is to hammer it reasonably flat then stick thin black foam sound deadening pads on top to hide the repair. Look at the roof carefully, if it’s got a kink in it the assessor will be able to say the shells damaged more easily for a write off.
I thought it was only a 7mph impact
7mph!!! From what I heard the kid was Flat!!!
I would have thought as an S2 driver he’d be used to having his back door’s smashed in
