Just a couple of Q's!!

Hi all,

After much searching I’ve managed to find a house with a double garage to move the motor into…spent a fortune on parts/new seat/tyres etc…started to fettle it in preparation for Croft and Spa in April.

I have a couple of questions I’m hoping you all can help with:

1.) Does anyone have a Tillett B5 or B6F fitted in their S1?

2.) Where is the best place to fit spreader plates to the floor for the harnesses and how did you go about fitting?

3.) Engine Cover alignment issue! I’ve found previous threads on here but just wanted to ask a specific question…has anyone drilled out the mounting bolt holes on the cover side of the hinge so that it can be moved to the left so it doesn’t have a massive gap running down the side?!

Your hinge is twisted. If you look at your picture, the little tab at the left side is bent up at an angle. This is Lotus’ attempt at an upstop for the boot lid. The problem is the upstop is too weak and you can bend it out of the way, but this also twists your hinge and the alignment goes out.

There are a couple of ways to fix it, one takes ages and is the proper fix. One take 2 seconds, but you don’t want to watch/listen when its done!

Well, this is the old hinge that a previous owner has ‘adapted’…I have bought a new hinge from Bell & Colvill and fitted it as I thought it was twisted.

Unfortunately the new hinge is the one with the issue of a massive gap down the side:, hence the reason why the previous owner adjusted the holes.
