evil laugh!! in have managed to litterally pull a hondata ecu, a jackson racin charger and all the bits out my arse for a very low pricewoohoo…(ill have on omex 7 series ecu for sale soon)
so…when its all fitted next week the map on the ecu is set to 248bhp.
im gonna run it at that for a while to get used to the extra power but obviously ill be wanting more.
now, without opening the block what power is safe? i know there is no such thing as 100% safe but where would be ok on the bhp level?
ive been told 298-304 is the max for this mod…that’s fine with me but apart from the clutch what will take the biggest hammering engine wise? would it be the bottom end bearings? especially No. 4?
any thoughts on what you guys would do to stop possible problems etc…
with regards to diff…
when i need a new clutch a new fly will be going in along with a lsd. i would preffer an lsd to an atb casue the atb’s never lock. so during a corner the atb moves the goal posts where an lsd locks and you know where the limit is. there are plenty atb’s out there but what lsd’s are there that we have used on here?
finally ratio’s? im not at all fussed with over 130mph…is there anything i could do to lower top end and have a more sprinty 0-100 mph?
love and affection…andy
hi mate.
The actaul honda k20 block is fine to 450bhp with a properly cooled air and good map etc. but with a JRSC without a chargecooler i would say around 300bhp.
bearings should be fine, so long as there not starved of oil.
There are plenty of LSD’s to choose from, KAAZ are good!
To get the gearing down i would fit a different final drive.
go on this site:
http://www.teammfactory.com/
then go to resources - gear calculator and have a play around.
also, have a look on here:
www.k20a.org
loads of info on there
Does the charge cooler actually give a lot more power ? I have around 300hp at the moment in mine. Whats involved in getting it up to 400hp (parts and rough cost) ?
Cheers
thanks dave!!xx
DSE im worried!!!
u have what im about to get, and it seem’s it still wont be fast enough poo
dse have u thought about drive shafts?
Hello :O)
300hp in my early S2 elise is still very managable on track, its not scary at all (in the wet its a challange, but not the dry). I just wonder if it will be more exciting at 400, thats all. Where do you stop though eh ?
I am sure you will understand what I mean when yours gets sorted. The elise/exige chassis balance and precision is not ruined by the honda even at 300 hp, it is so well sorted and with A048s I reckon it can handle even more.
Hi Dave,
First off you’d need an ITR inlet manifold (what the CC fits onto) c1k. Then you wuld have (with mapping, of course)330hp
The CCooler would be an additional 3k (I think!) This get around 350hp
Ah actually. I forget you have the cams too. You’d ultimately get 370hp (flywheel).
This map at the hubs:
http://www.dyno-plot.co.uk/dyno/dynoplot/id%3D539%26sort%3Drec%26but_sea%3Dqs%26sea_simple%3Dlink/Lotus-Elise-MSC--Link-Up.htm
This would be a BIG increase from the 300hp. At 450hp / tonne would give more power to weight than a bloody Veyron hahah!
You can get any of these parts from a link up dealer.
How do Pleyer :O)
I am seriously looking at this at the mo. The car is fast, dont get me wrong, but I want a little more fun (the kind of fun from having too much power).
Thanks for the heads up.
Ok, who knocked me down to one star … what did I do ? :O)
No worries.
the 370hp was rumoured to take a second off the 300hp 0-100mph time (from around 8 to 7 secs!)
After that you are onto stroker kits and 400-500hp. Lots of money though…
I got a price of 2900 inc VAT fitted for the CC from Andy last year but what do the cams cost all in then???
I can see a plan hatching
Over the last few years I’ve gone from the basic setup to this setup on my Exige, i.e Charger, chargecooler, cams, over-the-top race exhaust system etc, etc. This recently made 330 at the hubs at TDI. I also found out at Brands on wednesday that my throttle hadn’t ever been opening fully, so is most probably making more power than we thought.
I can confirm that this is a big step up from 300bhp at the flywheel. I’ve just installed a datalogger so will try and get some performance statistics soon.

I think it was 1400 all in but may be wrong.
Sounds good. Does it add more torque as well as hp ?
Looks like they do above 6500rpm
What boost levels are you running to get 350hp?
Hi Changing the final drive to a 5.64 ratio will spin the the motor up quicker for better pick up and also lower the top end. I ran one on my race car but removed it after 3 races. So now its for sale let me know if you are intrested for more info and a price.
