Japanese Exige vid

Now my Japanese is admittedly a lil shaky however it does rather appear that the text thing at 2.40ish tells us that theyve managed to squeeze 219bhp out of the NA yota mota! Don’t think we’ve managed that over here???

Certainly looks quick, and rather tasty at that too.

Really like that fat tyre look on that car, so much better than this trend towards lowest possible section tyres.

Those Yoko A050 look ok too, I take it they’re an evolution of the A048?

Good find David.

NA ROCKS Baby

And in Storm Titanium too lol…Nice one David!

EXCELLENT vids!

Observations… from a ‘K’ series operator!

The N/A sounds SO much better!
The N/A did not need to short shift thru that 3rd/4th gear left hander!
The N/A was SO flat thru the corners with much less braking pitch!
The N/A was not buzzed to 9,500 when he changed down!!!

N/A… al the way!

(you can buy me a beer Johnny!)

It’s also remarkable that they have successfully lowered the weight to 800 kg.

Thats nearly 9 seconds faster with 40hp less. quite good going. Seems to be a 2 litre though.

Thats what a carbon body does for ya!

Do we reckon it had a closer ratio gearbox in as well?

Translate through Google and more info here…

am not convinced, by all means it is a lovely car and nothing against the n/a but he was driving the 260 like a girl… totaly differnt driving style in both videos!

Agree with Ash on this topic…

 Bollox

We know if its deffo a 2litre? The video seems to say 1.8 but the website 2.0. Expect its prolly the latter though, which is a little bit of a shame

Want N/A 219bhhp? EASY in a K-series… lighter too

Easier in the Toyota and much much cheaper and will do 100k miles easily. You can get 220 without opening the engine if you choose intake and exhaust modifications carefully.

You can rev the toyota to 10000 with the stock crank and rods if you want to go for big hp. It will need intake and exhaust mods suitable for the job and some cylinder head modifications to liberate the top end and make the revs worthwile.

IMO the Toyota gets very little credit for some reason. And its only 115kg dry in full trim so its not as heavy as many think.

Having them out for repair doesn’t count as lightness… :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow what a great sound from that NA motor!

This may be true, but I think the problem with the Toyota is that it’s pretty fragile and untuneable even in stock form. At least with the Rover K you can up it from its pretty low base fairly reliably to around 160bhp

At recent trackdays I’ve seen 2 2ZZ engines toss their cookies, which represented 100% of those that were in attendance.

I dont think that it is fragile but like the honda it has a problem with oil pickup ones the gs build up. The engine pickup was designed to pick up oil up to 1g (written int the 2ZZ-GE technical papers) and this has not been rectified by Lotus.

I rev mine regularly up to 8700rpm and can do 12.8 to 100mph on a 1000kg MR2 with street tires. The engine is completely unopened and came from a crashed celica.

I think its much better than the VHPD in stock form even though that is in a 760kg car. Thanks to the poor gearbox ratios the end speeds are pretty similar to the mr2. I hope to improve this a bit like you did  Oh and keep up the good work  Im still far behind you in my build :S
