We S2 drivers just love our high reving, reliable, easy to modify Toyota engines
Easy, where did you get that idea from???

If you know what your doing the 2zz is not difficult to modify and actually it is cheaper to modify than a vhpd since you do retain most of it even for insane power conversions
With just pistons, valve springs and valves and a new oil pump you can get in the region of 350bhp easy when supercharged and charge cooled. And you can rev this to 9k or over.
Have you relayed this information to the Lotus factory race team? I am sure they would be very keen to hear how to do that for their Exige GT3 as they struggled to find that sort of power reliably last season.
but they did have to use a stock engine didn’t they? 11.5:1 compression is not quite what I would use to extract another 160bhp out of the engine. Remember thal all the stock supercharged exiges still use the na 2zz as a base. IMO even those are palying with fire when heat is not controlled very well.
No they did not use stock internals.
take a look at this car here http://monkeywrenchracing.com/mwrdragcelica.html
Ok its only used for drag racing but look at the modifcation done to the engine its self not exactly different than those done on a k series when building an engine for performance. Note the power as well.
There are countless engines out there doing in excess of 300bhp without issues just not on stock 11:1 pistons

Really? I thought they did
Why they are having the engine pop only they know then. The engines are good for that kind of power. To have it pop they have done something wrong. I also read they blow after a few laps which i think also point out to other issues. Its not possible to have people do counltess miles on more powerful variants and the lotus ones blow after a few miles IMO.
Don’t forget that 360bhp from a S/C engine is probably over 400bhp in real terms after you add the parasitic lose from the S/C
So not bad for an 1800cc
Ade, I don’t want to sound like a tw@ by saying this but ten seconds in a straight line a couple of times is a bit different from trying to lap competitively against top racing teams at the highest level of British GT racing.

Especially when you’re driving the friggin thing

I’d forgotten that
Very very

How did those Exiges get on in British GT?
They blew up lots.
Thought so, thats probably why the one that is up for sale for 90k hasn’t sold in months.
In the advert its says it finished every race

It did - in 2006. It was George McKintosh’s car.
Didn’t it only manage to start about two races last year.

Yes but don’t forget - george is Scottish!
Anyway, back on topic. 48’s, AP disc’s, Pagid’s and an edward’s diffuser have just been fitted. Now where’s that donor honda engine?

Graham.
