It's good to be back

At least you didn’t spin during sighting laps (walks away whistling)!

Weeeelll, it was wet and a slow graceful power slide out of the hairpin seemed like a good idea at the time (if only going I could actually do a slow graceful powerslides).

Ian

The thing I cant understand about Donnington is that every 5 minutes you get a jet taking off overhead which drowns out all other noise for a few minutes!

The Bookatrack day I did a few months ago was unsillenced and there was a fully race spec 911 that was drowning out the noise of the planes!

Lets not forget the ‘Monsters of rock’…sorry showing my age…download festival they have at Donnington every year with some of the heaviest and loudest bands on the planet
…what about the noise restrictions then I’m sure Metallica obeyed the restictions when they played there.

Yes I believe they did have to comply. I hear Janspeed now do a silencer for the Fender Strat!!!

You should see their Airbus A320 version!

Just did Donington (see other thread) and got black flagged for 101 db drive by, but then bolted on my secret weapon - a SUPERTRAPP - which got me thorugh the day nicely using full revs, with no noticeable loss of power -

Works where you have a round tail pipe - which may not suit everyone though…

Mike

where did you get it from? How much? Any pics?

I got it from GP Racing at Silverstone…

Don’t have any pics, but maybe someone took one at Donington - there were a lot of cameras around… ???

Is it like this one? I got this for my Janspeed - not used it yet

No - it is a small unit five inches in diameter that bolts on to a round tailpipe…

Take a look at their web page and you can see a ‘disc only’ photo…

Take a look HERE for more photos

Ok so it looks looks this?

Handsome piece of kit

That has surely got to resist flow and therefore greatly reduce power??

That is not the one I have…

I have taken some photos just for you !!!

I can’t get them to load, so if anyone can edit them (please Mr Admin), or tell me how…

The dirty brown bit is my mild steel tailpipe…

Harumph, erm Supertrapp Performance is a bit like Military Intelligence - an oxymoron.

I guess that when you have that much power you can’t feel if you loxe a few horses, but it certainly looks restrictive to me.

I guess only a power run before and after would do

That is not the one I have…

Sorry Mike - having not seen your exhaust I assumed that it might finish like the standard one, ie, once you have taken the endpiece off it finishes inside the rear clam. The one I posted would therefore be the one most Exige owners would have to get to ensure the exhaust cleared the car.

Yours appears to be this kit:

"Disc-Only Muffler, Stainless Steel, 2 1/2 in. Inlet, 5 in. Disc Diameter, Each

An excellent alternative to a full size muffler.
Providing an excellent alternative to a full size SuperTrapp muffler, these disc-only mufflers mount to a simple adapter and can be installed on your exhaust in minutes. Great for everything from street to racing, they can be used by themselves to deliver a moderate amount of sound control, or added to an existing exhaust to adjust its sound and tunability–without restricting airflow. They’re the smallest and lightest mufflers available, and their spark-arresting design allows them to be used safely off-road."

Does your installation have a pinch bolt to fit it. I can’t see one inthe fitting kit?

No pinch bolt - I just drilled through the small adaptor plate and straight through the exhaust pipe and bolted the two together - easy fit and easy removal - and it ain’t gonna fall off…

AS to performance, I am using all ten discs, and did not feel any performance restriction…

I will put the datalogger in and do some back to back tests when I can find some time, and post the results up here…

Of course at Donington, I was faster with the supertrapp, cos I could use the full performance without having to lift off for the microphones !!!

29 hours to go before I pick the Exige up …and counting. God its been a long three weeks
