When I was at Stratstone MK we used a local bodyshop that was very good. Think it was called Perfect Paint. If you give James a call at the dealership he will have the number.
Bad luck Bob, its probably best to get the clam replaced or you may get problems with the paintwork cracking and splintering at a later date, take it to a lotus dealer and get insurance to pay
Local bodyshop 1 (lots of Porsches in ) said new clam straight off for exactly the reasons Maddog said.
Local bodyshop two (escort rally shell and something nice/classic under wraps - could have been an Elan) said repair it but got peed off when I said I wanted a new clam - they said the insurance wouldn’t cough up - I said I dont want to look at fibreglass repairs every time I open the boot…
Does anyone know if the clam can move around on its fixings to any degree?
I’ve just notice that the seal along the back of the hardtop is tight up on the drivers side and has a mm gap on the passenger side? It looks like the clams moved slightly on the chassis. I bloody hope thats the case otherwise the chassis is firkin knackered?
The car drives fine. I think I better make a trip to the stealers…
Depending on how close you are to them, try Normandales in Daventry. They do the paint work for many race teams, and do the paintwork for ScaredStifff (local Lotus geniuses). I’ve used them a good few times too (unfortunately)
Having sat looking at the twisted body last night I think I’ll be heading up to Steve G’s on friday afternoon for a geo check just for peace of mind but while I’m up there I’ll go and Normandales too.
