Nice drive out this morning followed by a wash and brush up, followed by another short blast during which the car suddenly lost power. No big bang, no smoke, no mecanical noise but a few pops and bangs from unburnt fuel. Made it back home on what seemed like two or three cylinders and found another catastrophic plug failure, 5 years on from the last one…

On No 3 cylinder this time. I changed the plug and all seems well.
Why does this happen and why is it only happening to me
However, lots of smoke i the engine compartment on start up afterwards. Could be some oil blow through but I get the distinct impression that the alternator has cooked itself (see separate thread)
