It had to happen

Well I knew it was going to happen soon … and it has - HGF …

I was convinced it was going as I had a rise in temp once at the Exiges day and I could detect a bit of oil in the header tank … but you know how denial goes

Anyhow Donnington yesterday finished it off as it pucked up after the last session …

The dilema is now for real

The dilema is now for real

Sorry to hear the news, mate

However, every cloud, & all that

sorry to hear that Andy…PITA

how many miles did you get ?

Gutting.

Plus point being it was the last session.

Problem with the dilemma, you’re probably gonna have to fix it for the K to be worth much…but whilst you’re fixing it (especially now the emerald does A/c)!

Ian

Rox - 36K with me doing something like 8K track miles in 4 years … so not too bad I guess …

Ian - yeah - I already know how much its going to cost to fix it correctly, I’m not interested in just slapping a new gasket on … like most on here I want reliability … which to be honest I have had for 4 years … equally I dont (usually ) thrash it - equally I want to use the damn thing this summer

…and now the potential court case with dva…

Whilst I’m sure everybody (not least the proponents themselves) will enjoy the lack of exchanges such a legal process would no doubt enforce it does rather raise two troubling issues:

  1. If there is useful information for that could benefit K owners it would be nice if it was shared

  2. The complexity of such a legal process would cost the sorts of figures that would have to be passed on to future customers

Simon, if there is useful information you want to share, then as an expert that wants to help the community at large why does it have to be done in the light of another company’s failings? Surely you can just point out potential issues and they can be discussed/heeded?

Ian

I guess I’m one of the very lucky ones - no hgf. My engine had about 35k on the clock and was 6 years old when I swapped it out for the Honda. Loads of track days as well. I must have got a good 'un.

I’m just starting to strip it down now. It’s been gathering dust for the last three years. Will take loads of photos if I find anything interesting. One thing I noticed straight away was a bloody big hole in the cam belt cover. Something I think everyone should check for themselves.

I was surprised at how many have suffered a similar fate after I posted the pic up on Seloc. Seems to be a TADTS that no one publicly posts about. But a lump of plastic dropping in could be interesting… Not something you can see unless you stick your hand in the general area. In my case it would appear the plastic has melted from heat from the manifold.

Ian - you managed to melt something!
