Is this a common problem; header tank

I was checking my s2 exige before a day at Donington and could smell coolant. Knowing it’s a Toyota it could not be HGF. It turned out to be the plastic header tank. The sun light had got to it, over the years, through the mesh and it had gone brittle. The AA man tried to fix it and it fell apart like it was made of sugar. The Lotus and Toyota dealers did not have one in stock so the car went on a tow truck back to the dealer (under warranty).

With the track day at risk my S1 Exige stepped up. Some gaffa tape stopped the mirrors flopping in, out of respect to the K i set the rev limit to 6500 and it was brilliant. Smooth torque delivery, brakes with feel and brilliant balance. The BIG difference being the brakes, much better than the S2.

Has anyone else struggled with the “feel” of s2 brakes?

Sadly yes it is quite common, I may well upgrade mine with a radium one as proalloy have not made one yet :frowning:

I bought one from Radium, it’s a nice bit of kit but a bit expensive. I did post some pics a few months back.

Missed the post, new to S2. Looks like a nice but of kit, I will be getting a plastic one under warranty from the dealer. As the car is normally garaged it should last much longer than the first one.

Good job I found it before I went on track.

I got got a second header tank from site that breaks up Elise and exiges. It cost me 30 and was in really good condition

i can top that…got a second hand header tank, on ebay…look under toyota celica 190, there were a few on there for 15.

got mine for that and it was in near perfect condition after a clean…

Oh look at you with 15 pounds lol bloody good price tbh . Can’t see how they can charge 160 for it.
