Is there something wrong with my VHPD?

Is this normal? My VHPD Exige passed its MOT with ease today!

Question though, it’s always a “beep” to start, hot or cold. Is that normal? It’s got the 190 upgrade and appears to start better if you touch nothing and just try it three or four times. When it was really cold last year (-10) it always started first time. Perhaps I should store it in a fridge?

Just part of the pain and pleasure of owning an S1. Let me bore you sometime with the tale of my trip to Le Mans Classic 2008.
Which almost ended in the garage at home.

Sounds on the button to me

Sometimes they won’t start - leave 'em to sulk for a few minutes then they start first time - no apparent reason?

There’s something wrong with all of them… it’s just a question of what and how bad.

what he said - big stylie!!!

Mine must be a rarity then, always starts first turn of the key in all weathers. Maybe mines broken

Or about to break-Must admit I’ve been lucky with mine-standard ECU with verniers and silenced cat by-pass -pulls from 1500 revs in top and revs its nuts off.16 solid bucket tappets at 8000revs-music!!!

I noticed while Driving Dans S2 S round Anglesey that Lotus decided to drop the old S1 K powered cockpit fragrance?

I could not smell glue, burnt rubber, gear oil (raw and burning) burning engine oil, unburnt fuel, i’m sure thats coolant - do you think thats coolant??? dispair and that unmistakeable top note of petrified anticipation of something complicated and expensive about to bust…again…

So much for upgrades!!!

Well said. It is a worry, all that money to get less instead of more.
Thanks for a very entertaining post. Sorry I missed all the fun.

So that’s the smell? I’d been wondering…

If anybody is a chump like me they can buy my upgraded engine for zillions of pounds as in truth I am sure I was better off with the standard 170 jobbie…seemed a good idea at the time …much as I thought when I proposed !!! glad she does not read this.

Only joking , what other “trouble and strife” says its OK to go out and buy a racer…( I’m sure there is method in her madness)

200 BHP VHPD going well could be for sale to fund new racer. (Buyer swaps out the engines !)

From beverley to Anglesey for the Track day and back to Beverley-ran perfectly, didn’t even use any oil.But always oil to the top of the dipstick, loads of Octane Booster, loads of Radiator Relief from Eliseparts and a healthy dose of Activ8 every year. But I always have all my fingers and toes crossed!!

That’s to the max mark not the right up the tube

Think of a K-series as a four wheeled Ducati and you can’t go wrong. The rewards are just as high!
