“Is there an Exige buyer’s guide?”
Yes, you’re on it.

Lol I visited this forum 8 years ago, bought the car, now I can’t leave - the ol’ Exige is more than just a car - they have the ability to intrude into your whole life, my garden is now overgrown, house needs fascias and soffits doing, etc, etc - but what a totally great set of people I’ve met along the way, cars are pretty decent too
Lol how true…saw THIS in the for sale section Rishie was looling at or something
I have put a deposit on another sprint that is identical to that with fewer miles
Going to view it at the weekend so wondered what I should be looking/listening out for?
Not a lot really on S2s at that age, it is more about making sure it is a nice non crashed honest example. but a few thing to look for;
No clonking from the steering
Tyre condition, to see if it has just been a track car or normal road car.
and more importantly, how long it takes to get the stupid grin off your face after the test drive
Must admit, aparently its done just under 4K miles and is still on the original tyres! Is this possible?
I’d be very happy if I got 4K out of my 48s.
Fronts yes, rears are unlikely but possible with careful driving I suppose
Yeah, S2 drivers are more girlie, so can make there tyres last! They also talk about MPG and interior carpet and stuff like that. HAHA
Good luck on Saturday, like everyone has said at that age, everything should be A1, plus I am guessing it will come with a proper warranty.
Sean, any more abuse towards us S2 boys and I’ll slap you with my handbag
Presuming its got traction then yes the tyres can last quite a bit.
Gav
Dont let it stress you out, its common knowledge that S2 Drivers can afford a few more comforts, S1 Drivers need to lose as much weight as possible to offset old age and there own weight
You go girl
And I thought Seloc was bitchy
I does have traction so that might be the reason, cheer!
Might help having TC but the longest I have made a set of rears last is 4k miles
Is there any way I can see if they are the originals?
Yep, the originals would be black & round!
Ok, I asked for that
If they are NOT A048’s they won’t be original otherwise no
(trying to be helpful unlike Uncle Pesky)
3-6K miles is the norm for rear A048’s on a s/c car with TC, so 4K seems reasonable. Expect little over 2mm tread left though.
My rear tyres were replaced at 5K miles including one trackday. I dont think the second set will last as long however
If it’s a one owner car, it may have FSH & therefore a receipt for any replacement tyres. Ask the seller!
