On a steep learning curve here so bare with me…
But my allegedly standard exige s sounds louder than the one i tried before with a stage 1 exhaust at the dealers, imho. I’ve removed the diffuser to have a look and other than to confirm its a single tip stainless backbox i can’t do much else. Is the standard one stainless and if so is there any identifying marks/codes on it that i can check? This one actually sounds quite load and boomy/droney above 3k with WOT which i can’t remember the stage 1 doing. Thanks for any help, sc.
That does not sound like a standard exhaust, AFAIK they were never stainless either, my standard S sound like a sewing machine till it got 2bular’d

If it is really heavy it maybe the Lotus Stage 2 or 3, if it is not really heavy it is an after market system.
If the backbox is small it is aftermarket.

size is approx 18" x 8" diameter.

cheers, must be going soft as its a bit too loud for me and thats after coming from a 360 with a TUBI style fitted which could actually set car alarms off 
Actually not sure now I look again…I don’t remember a bracket between exit and silencer.
That looks like mine and i was told my is a stage 3 made by forge, i will check later .

Yes just looked and from what i can see its the same, my diffuser is still on though.

In steps the exhaust man 
That I am almost sure is a Janspeed stage 3 by lotus, you can tell by the welds and the position of them on the exit pipe.
The Forge is similar but has a continuous sweeping bend rather than two 90’s on the exit pipe.
It should be stamped janspeed on the back box.

Mine,s a Janspeed stage 3 on a 2006 “S”.
I now think it sounds great after initially thinking it was a tad loud.

Mine is lotus Stage 3 and looks just like that. Is loud aswell IMO so maybe thats what it is. Does it pop and bang quite often?
just confirmed by previous owner - stage 3 lotus from new!
