the best production car Lotus have ever made?

In all seriousness I reckon it is :slight_smile: - owned most Lotus models but none of them have compared to the S1 Exige.

It is a truely iconic car and I never tire of driving/sitting in it :slight_smile:

My Lotus experience is more limited: ĆÆĀæĀ½lan+2(my dadā€™s); Elise 111S; now my Exige.
Exige is THE car as as I am concerned. Itā€™s a treat every time I see it in the garage and even better when it fires up and I get drive it.
Had a lot of fun in my Ginetta G15S and often wonder what Iā€™d think of one now

I guess it depends what you mean by ā€˜bestā€™ I would say the S1 Elise is probably Lotusā€™ highlight, so I guess you flagging the best of the S1 genre as being ā€œthe bestā€ isnt a bad shout. So yeah Iā€™m with ya!!

Yep, I think the extruded ali chassis was the genius element. Kept to Colinā€™s lightweight principles and presented a bunch of low-cost options.

+1 for the Type 14. To my mind that and the Elan (Type 26) are the two spiritual fathers of the Elise.

Both have innovative construction methods, although the Elan was more commercially successful, like the Elise.

I do love my 1967 ĆÆĀæĀ½lan S2. :smiley:

It looks good , drives brilliantly , and Iā€™ve kept it pretty much standard, except for solid driveshafts to replace the rote a flex :wink:
