Is Jonathan Palmer a hairdresser?

Check out the Top 25 http://www.howfast.com/index.asp

Hi PeskyDon’t know but you could have a point. This is a weird piece about his associates: (illustrated by the times of Goodwin, Harris and Sutcliffe) If the latter is Peter his time would be longer than most, I guess.Trevor

Come on be fair (or Bottle Blond)He was only 16 secs of the pace behind a 15 yr old golf and a 5 series.I would take your comment as an insult pesk were i a hair dresser Kee [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Not read all the details on the site…but this would, I think, invalidate my track insurance and if you or some other person close by you is really trying hard to set a time then its probably more likely to have an off or a prang with another motor…

It is quite clear with my insurance, that I would not be covered at that type of event, & accordingly, I have no desire to participate! However, I thought that the post would be of some general interest to fellow petrolheads, given the current spread of recorded times on the site. I must admit that I found Dr Palmer’s time surprising, but all credit to the other guys, apart from the “Ripper” [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

It seems to me that it would not be good for business if Mr Palmer were to go out there and set a time that the averagely competant (Not ex-F1) driver would have no chance of beating. Would you rather go along to Bedford Autodrome thinking you might come away being able to tell your mates that you’re 10 seconds a lap faster than Mr Palmer on his own circuit, or would you even bother going if you thought you simply had no chance?Just a thought. Maybe he’s crap, or maybe he’s just trying to make money.

Might be worth getting my car along there… it must be faster than the other Exiges (if driven by someone competent)

True, though I gather Competitive Car Insurance (aka Eggar Lawson) by definition, offer such policies.

If you want to give it a go and Eggar Lawson can’t help, TL Clowes will almost certainly be able to cover you (last time I used them they were insuring most of the F1 paddock).

Competition Car Insurance will insure a competition car for road use and also will provide cover for track days, test days (i.e. track days with timing) and even competition either on a per event or multi-event basis. I’ve used them several times.[This message has been edited by Jimbo (edited 15 March 2002).]
