Is Donington the centre of the Universe?

Well it seems to be for Mr Admin [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]He’s booked in again on the 18th Feb, this time in the Skyline.About bloody time he came & joined us fans of Anglesey - opportunity knocks for the 2 days 2nd & 3rd March. http://www.bookatrack.com# Those insured with Lotus Esteem take note though - no cover for this track [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]

Pesky,Why not join me and another Exige at Anglesey this coming Saturday 19th??Giles

GilesCan’t do Saturday…but I am seriously thinking about Sunday. I have also mentioned Sunday to RussT.I’m unlikely to know whether or not Sunday is ok for me, until Thursday.Fingers crossed [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

hehe, cheeky Pesky [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/tongue.gif[/image]I like Donington because it’s got LOADs of run-off should the worst happen, and it’s got some nice LONG straights which allows me to compensate for my crap driving round corners by hammering the straights.Having said that, given the Skyline propensity to hang the back-end out (I think it was designed specifically to do this) I would actually like to get to a twisty track like Bedford that has nothing to collide with… that way I can practice my heroic powerslides … or so the theory goes.Who’s operating Anglesey on the 19th ? I might be tempted, although I gather there are things you can hit…[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 15 January 2002).]

[image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Firstly see my original post to this thread, & secondly see http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/000620.html I agree with Jonny, I can’t see what the fuss about, particularly compared to other circuits, where the Armco is much closer to the track. It would be great to see you there [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] Lord Whitter has been reminded about the weekend, & he told me yesterday it’s on his list of things to do.

Keep up man ! Who’s organising it for this Saturday 19th as Giles mentions ?

Who’s organising it for this Saturday 19th as Giles mentions ?My most humble apologies, Lord of the BBS [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]I was just about to dash out to earn a few pennies to help pay for the odd trackday, so replied in haste [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]This weekend is also a bookatrack event. Giles is there both days, & Russ & I are seriously thinking about going on Sunday.Go on, get booked in for Sunday [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

OK. I’ll get myself in provisionally…See if the weather looks promising.

pah - feckin bunch of sun-chasers. anglesey is one of the few (non-airfield) venues that’s as much fun in the wet as in the dry*.* with the exception of braking for the hairpin…Hope to see you guys there.JonnyBookaTrack.com

Not a sun-chaser, just a monsoon avoider [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

It’s the 2.5 hour journey each way which concern me, bearing in mind that I intend to travel there & back on Sunday. However, if you give me the dosh to buy my missus a bunch of flowers, she may let me out on Saturday afternoon for an overnight bash with you lot [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image][This message has been edited by Pesky (edited 15 January 2002).]

I have been to circuits where there are things to hit a lot closer to the tarmac than there are at Anglesey.Come on all you Exige people - book up for Anglesey this weekend - you know it makes senseJonny - am I on commission per booking??Giles

OK, I’ve been told my new trailer will be ready by Friday… (I’m not doing a 500 mile round trip in the Skyline) so I’ll be ready for Sunday

Must be a damn big trailer (4 wheels?),to get the Skyline on!Hope to see you there [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

Must be a damn big trailer (4 wheels?),to get the Skyline on!The Land Rover Discovery pulls the trailer [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]It’s a 16 footer (4 wheels) with a capacity of about 2.2tonnes. I think the Discovery is good for pulling over 3tonnes.The bugger about it is that the front is so low that it needs extender ramps to load it.Nissan have thought of everything, they even supply a spanner to remove your front splitter (the towing eye is hidden behind it). You even get a nice soft bag to put the splitter in while it’s on the trailer [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]The upside is that I can put a whole load of gubbins in the back of the Land Rover… Sometimes, I carry so much stuff in the Exige to a track day it becomes a bit of a bind (some of which I don’t feel safe leaving in a pit lane garage)[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 15 January 2002).]

I cant make Sunday but have booked for Saturday.Anyone got any recomendations for somewhere to stay on the Friday night?Any other advice on lines… gratefully recieved!I looked at the confirmed bookings to see that about 3 other bookings are all from within a 10mile of me whats that all about?

quote:Originally posted by X111GED:Anyone got any recomendations for somewhere to stay on the Friday night?RoyTry Maelog Lake Hotel (01407 810204) it’s only a couple of miles from the circuit.I suggest that you do a search on the multimaps.com site to find the circuit location, as there aren’t many signs in the vicinity!Last time the “Northern Mob” did Anglesey, we stayed at the Maelog. Be prepared for a bit of karaoke [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] Accomadation is adequate rather than luxurious, but at 18 B&B what do you expect? Maelog has a decent “pub” restaurant, & the breakfasts are good! I believe that a few others up for the Bookatrack sessions are staying there too, so you should have some “good” backing singers for when it’s your turn [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]It’s a great little circuit & Exiges, Elises, & “7s” are ideal [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] I would also recommend a session with an instructor. If the weather behaves, it must be the most picturesque circuit in the UK - it’s only a few hundred feet from the sea, & the views over the water to Snowdonia are fantastic.Hope you enjoy it as much as we do [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image][This message has been edited by Pesky (edited 15 January 2002).]
