Interesting concept.....

Have been thinking for some time about replacing my Elise body for a motorsport/Exige body (cant afford to do it until at least middle of next year) for racing. If I did that I would make the clams ‘quick release’ so I could get them off to do work on the engine.I would still have my Elise clams in the garage which I could also make quick release…How similar are the mounting points for the two cars.in theory I could be able to swap car shape depending on what competition I was entering…Possibility or fictional work of a mad man???

I’d suggest a posting to Nick Adams on the OLC board - I’m pretty sure if he doesn’t know what’s involved, he’ll know a man who does!Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

They are more likely to be a 1-for-1 mating.Lord Whitter may be able to find out for you too.

Thats what I was thinking. Some Lotus dealers must still have these around - they were all forced to buy a set - must be some cheap somewhere…

Hi Owen. Sorry for the delay in replying, Ive been away. Youre right in that dealers were obliged to buy a motorsport body kit, but this was a requirement of becoming a Lotus Motorsport Dealer, so its only the Motorsport dealers who did this. From memory the kit was around 8k + VAT, and most dealers made an Elise conversion to use the kits up as there werent too many takers. AFAIK they are still available from Lotus and are obviously designed to go on a Mk 1 Elise.
