Intercooler heat soak?

Just wondering, does heat soak from the engine enter into the intercooler?

As the elements of the intercooler are exposed directly above the engine, at any speed below where the roof scoop is drawing sufficient flow through the intercooler, heat must be effecting it?

Has anyone made a stainless/carbon shield to attempt to stop this?

It Does Fish,

The only real way to stop it is to charge cool.

I’ve got a heat sheild on mine. A few guys have made there own with gold reflective film on the underside.

There is some testing that has been done on heatsoak here on this forum. Very good info, it can be reduced by doing mods to increase the airflow, but charge cool is the gold standard.

I bought one from pro alloy (part of their upgraded inter cooler) and fitted to standard intercooler with some reflective shield and has made a difference in traffic

Not perfect answer but simple and helps

They are better known as interwarmers just like Scooby and Nissan Pulsar ones, you are all right though, more air to remove the soak ASAP once move or better still go charge cooler, but there is cost and weight with that :frowning:

Thanks, I’ll do a search.

Just to let you know I am fitting the lotus 2-eleven shroud to the standard intercooler and running 2 x 4inch pipes to each side scoop.

I have it on order just waiting for it to arrive.

I also need to remove that silly airbox snorkel and space the side scoops out.
