Insurance

Just informed Autotorque of my recent ‘upgrades’

Additional premium of 63.00 for the remaining 4 months of the policy plus a 15.00 admin fee. Also my fee per trackday goes up as it’s based on 10% of the premium.
Annual now looking close to 900

Also asked the question re mileage. I have a 3000 mile limit on my policy & am getting close to doing that since Aug last year. Adding another 1000 allowance on is another 40

Then some good news - apparently mileage accrued on track doesn’t count towards total annual mileage
Result !!!

So if your policy is the same as mine start logging your trackday mileage !!!

After recalculating my mileage I have only done 1250 road miles since last Aug.

On a seperate note I asked what I had to declare as ‘upgrades’. Turns out anything which either affects performance or makes the car more desirable to thieving scumbags.

This includes Brake,suspension,accusump,ECU, Injectors.
Also included is my OMP steering wheel, Lotus sport gearknob, Carbon splitter & rear wing.

Be afraid if you have fitted any extra bling and not told Mr Insurance Man !!!

Chris

Eh, hows that work then? Do you just make a rough hand written note and they believe you if you have a claim?
I’m only asking as i have the same policy and was going to go elsewhere next month to someone who would give more mileage. Why do the tracks always have to be miles away

Eh, hows that work then?

I’m intrigued to know the answer to that one too

Guys,

I’m with Autotorque as well…they dont actually tell their under writer how many miles you have at the beginning of your policy…I think it comes down to “Utmost Good Faith” however their limit for milage seems to be fixed @ 5K per year on the Hagerty classic policy…as I wanted to change to 6-7K per year - no can do.

On a separate subject WRT trackday insurance… I have it in my policy however if I wreck my car or bike on track… FFS why should anyone else have to pay to cover that…get a grip guys!

Now you know what UGF means…

Take care,

Frank

Sorry, I should have quoted a bit better (as in at all!).
I meant how do you deal with the mileage not counting on track. Do you have to tell them each time, etc. If this is the case it would almost halve my annual mileage!

Hi Neil

Based on my conversation today you keep a general log & if you insure the day through them they know which days you have done over the year.

I have insured every trackday so it’s relatively easy to track the mileage.

Open pitlane days I average around 150 miles. Sessioned have been around 120.

Biggest mileage so far was openpitlane day on Silverstone GP - did 230 miles !!!
