Insurance

Hi All

With the recent posts around insurance and with me getting quotes today I was suprised at some of the prices :astonished:

Who’s paying what with who ?

I’ve tried Heritage - wouldn’t quote as the car is too new
I’ve tried CCI - quoted 1100 :astonished:
I’ve tried Richard Eggar - quoted 764 still :astonished:

So I’ll be hunting around some more - any suggestions ???

Tell them you are as old as Pesky!

BTW, are you a youngster!!! and does your car have 600 bhp!?? I am amazed at the high cost of those

Impossible really to compare one insured person’s insurance premiums with another’s. So many factors come into play eg age/location/NCB/convictions/accidents/intended use/mileage/1st or 2nd car/modifications/named drivers

All you can do is get as many quotes as you feel is necessary. Myself, & a number of others here use Matt Taylor of Henderson Taylor tel: 0161 437 7442

No - I’m 43 and my car only has 260 bhp (clue ?)

Not using any of my NCB as that’s on the Veyron

GULP!

I did not even bother to check how much my ‘new’ Exige S is going to cost me to insure! My S1 modded was only about 300 per year and my outgoing S2 Elise about 240 per year!

But then again I am ‘over the hill’!!!

Pete

As I said before, many factors are taken into consideration eg my car is not covered for commuting to from/work/business, & I have restricted mileage. However it’s got a declared list of mods as long as your arm, it’s covered for trackdays, & RussT is a named driver etc etc. Premium is now less than 600pa, compared to the 1100pa in 2001 when car wasn’t modded, I had unlimited mileage, & business use cover.

I doubt any increase you’ll incur, will cause you much worry

ouch,i’m 24 and i have a 220bhp with exhaust, 3 points and european breakdown cover/insurance and mine is 1500 with admiral. and thats cheap for me

I’m not worried mate! The bottom line IMHO is if you can afford to buy and run one of these high powered sports cars then you should really factor in the very important cost of insurance. Not having it all buttoned up would be like driving on 3 wheels with 2 wheel nuts!

Any chance of being another named driver mate! :sunglasses:

I think I’m only allowed one, Pete, but you’re one of a handful of peeps I’d trust

And no, I’m not going to go through a list of those peeps, so don’t anyone ask!

Fixed that for you!

I reckon they probobly would pay you to take Russ off!!

Is there something we should know then Pete???( other than you being over the hill)
Some of us have gone so far over that hill we’ve come back over the other side .

I’ll make it easy, I am NOT on the list

As said before, postcode makes a huge difference, I can’t believe how little some people pay, mine has always been high even with full NCB and no points (touch wood) because Bolton has a high postcode band, this I believe is because we are close to Manchester which used to be the car crime capital of the world.

Thanks Rob - result  Spoke to Matt this morning.

724 inlcuding 6 trackdays

He’s a good man and even turns up at the odd trackday to says hi.

Ian

I’ve just had to renw after Hagerty unceremoniously dropped us Exige owners.
Gone with Matt at Henderson Taylor.
Good price, six track days including Europe.

Agree - top man

Agreed policy etc yesterday and docs turned up this morning - excellent service

Bugger, I want to leave my insurers to go with someone like Henderson Tayloe but they’re telling me that because I made a claim 2 months ago I cant leave them without paying up my full years policy…?!
