Insurance: Who with and how much?

Hi Guys,

It’s approaching insurance o’clock and I’m wondering who provides yours and whats your premium like? I’m 42, car is circa £29,999, 40K miles, 3K miles use per annum. Renewal is £350 with Henderson Taylor. I’m contemplating keeping it off the road for winter (first time in 5 years I hasten to add) as having a young family prevents long outings (it’s the guilt!!).

So tell me about your insurance.

Cheers,
Kurt

Mine was with Henderson last year, I’m similar age and my premium likewise.

Randomly I got a quote for a multi car policy with admiral as they already were covering my daily. The premium was circa £180. However key difference it doesn’t include track cover - not an issue this year but a consideration for the future.

Thank you for that. I’m not that fussed about tracking it at the mo (road tyres and set up), but that may change in the next year or so.

I’m with REIS and it’s about £350 (can’t remember exactly) including track cover.

Has anyone tried Footman James? An S1 would qualify for a classic policy with them, as they’re over 15 years old now.

I haven’t looked at classic insurance, a good shout though, I think the likes of Henderson are popular because they include track insurance and agreed values. But overall they are pretty cheap to insure all considered, only 1800cc for a VHPD, and 177/190php…

Have dealt with Matt at Henderson for years. Yes the trackday cover is good etc but for me it’s the service you get from him. I don’t have time in the day (or the patience) to deal with larger outfits and all the bullshit that goes with it. The one that pisses me off the most is when they put you on hold while they “speak to their supervisor”… After the third ‘cyhwistms’ I’ve usually hung the phone in a bid to regain sanity.

Happy to pay Matt a few extra quid for him to deal with it all tbh.

Couldn’t agree more Gav  - kept with CCI for last 10 years - premium is circa £300 inc 6 trackdays - which I never seem to use :frowning:

I tried FJ recently for one of my ‘classics’ and found them rather expensive…

I’m with Matt too. He is very efficient and no nonsense. I just renewed a couple of weeks ago.
