Whilst arranging tomorrow’s trackday cover with Matt Taylor of Henderson Taylor, he mentioned that it is now possible to have European Events included FOC, & that if you are a member of Lotus On Track, the number of “free cover” days is now 6. I’m presuming that this applies from your next renewal date, or from the inception of a new policy. As it happens, mine’s due for renewal in June.
A few of the insurers have opened up their trackday rules for clubs. (probably the same underwriters)
Paul has posted on LoT that CCI now do this as well, and I’ve just renewed with Richrd Egger and that also has European days or UK days as part of their free days, in the past it was always a maximum of 1 in Europe.
Nope - where did you get those figures from as a matter of interest?
What it means is that the Underwriters recognise certain cars are mainly hobby, & 2nd cars for their owners - therefore, they accept the probability of a lower than normal risk…but with strings attached e.g. limited mileage/non business use/minimum age (often 27) for policyholder/no no-claims bonus/no 3rd party cover when driving other cars.
In this context “classic” is not necessarily related to the age of the car e.g my 2008 Clio 197 Cup was a “classic”, whereas the Clio 197 wasn’t!
Obviously, only the specialist brokers will be able to offer a classic policy.
AON charge me 5 for the value of each 1000 for each car. I pay the same if it is on the road or laid up.
Now the Exige was under 10 year old so it was quite a bit more expensive, but as mine is registered in Dec 2000 I am hoping it becomes a classic with this policy renewal next month.
