Injector Choices?

There seems to be a little traffic just recentley on the various Lotus forumns about injectors. And i particular about increasing flow rates 330c, 440c etc.

Surely the spray pattern should be taken into account? Getting a better atomisation of the metered fuel in the cylinder would be more useful than getting excessive fuel that doesn’t get completley burn’t washing the cylinders out?

Has anyone got any experience or knowledge on the best spray patterns to use or the best injectors?

I think you’ve got to at least start by getting the flow rate somewhere near, but then the spray pattern depends on things like inlet tract length and the proximity of the injector to the port, so the type of throttle bodies used affects both these factors. I would also put fuel pressure in as another variiable that will affect both flow rate and spray pattern too.

I don’t think that there’s an ideal injector that’s a ubiqitous solution, it’s just painful having to go through mapping sessions to find out which ‘ain’t the right ones’.

I would add that I have no experience of tuning on the standard (Titan) throttle bodies, only Jenvey ones.

One of the things I have found is that by fitting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator instead of the fixed one on the rail it is easy to tweak the flow rate. I run a fixed gauge from Innovate in the states - http://www.innovatemotorsports.com It is nice to see what is going on. Their LM-2 data logger is an excellent bit of kit.
