I fancy an induction kit, but I don’t know which to go for. Anybody made any comparisons? I’ve got a stage 1 exhaust and I’d like to add a bit more character to the noise of the car.
From what I can gather they are all about the same apart from the coarseness of the induction noise. The ITG is one of the best apparently, not harsh. Pipercross and hurricane or on a par…as far as the two pipercross kits are concerned I think the more expensive one is just their latest model. Or that is what it tells you on the Pipercross shop web page.
The ITG is around 360 against the Pipercross which is 299…I’m going for the pipercross so will let you know how I get on.

I’m thinking about the ITG. Best price I have found is Hangar111 @ 373 including Maggies and P&P. Has anyone found a better price than that before I place my order?
John
I have a stage 1 and will be going for the pipercross as well…
Cool, I’m looking forward to hearing some reports.
I only supply the Pipercross because its the only one I know for sure that actually does something. I had a dyno test done before and after at Silverstone. Before 186.6 BHP, after 199.7 BHP. Takes a few start stop cycles and a while for the ECU to learn to cope with the increased airflow though.
13 brake is pretty impresive!!!
You don’t work for Pipercross do you
I think 373 is about the best you will get…Hanger 111 do say that they have recorded an increase in power with the ITG and Toyota engine…thay don’t quote figs though…13bhp for the pipercross sounds good.
There are power / torque figures and curves quoted on the ITG web site for the 111R.

I have a Stage 1 and Pipercross (as fitted by B&C - not sure which one it is, but the pipework from the drivers pod looks like it is Carbon) and its great… doesnt drone on the motorway… is wife friendly (and hopefully track too) - but when the second cam comes in - Bang the volume knob gets cranked up and its sounds superb !!!
Sounds like the VI System (299). Thats the one for me.
Just ordered the Pipercross so will let you know how I get on with it.
Hi Rob,
Our Lotus Exige induction kit range consists of three main products:
PK292 - Traditional induction kit located in the engine bay
VFC292 - Viper sealed air intake, located in the engine bay with a cold air feed routed to the air scoop on the side of the vehicle
VIS292 - Velocity Intake System, using a carbon fibre relocation pipe, the filter is placed directly behind the side air scoop.
PK292 -87.99
VFC292 - 250.00
VIS292 - 299.00
Prices for the above are all RRP, but we don’t sell directly to the public - all are available nationwide from our authorised distributors.
All of the kits we produce will give the engine a throatier induction note, especially when the valve timing shifts over, and also improve the throttle response. The VIS292 kit is the one we supply to the majority of Lotus dealers in the UK for fitment to their demo cars!
I hope this is of some use to you, if you need any more information please let me know.
Regards,
Joff
Pipercross Filters
Quality without compromise!
Great response!
The Velocity looks better, but the Viper would stay cleaner as the filter isn’t actually in the side pod. Hope this helps.
Inset pic is with the grill removed.
Good response…doesn’t say anything about increase in BHP though…If you order from the pipercross shop dealivery is free.
The Velocity setup is what I have. It looks the daddy in the engine bay. For insurance purposes I rang Lotus Sport direct who claimed zero bhp increase from the kit - which surprised me. Pipercross themselves dont even hint that bhp is increased - you would think they would use this to sell the product if it were the case…
But do they sound much different below 6K rpm? It already sounds good on the second cam, but it’s bland at lower revs. It’s not so much that I want more volume, just a more interesting noise.
when you start it up on a cold morning the induction kit sounds like darth vader
a bit
That’s it! I’m sold
i have the pipercross on my s2 and it makes a nice growling sound when you put your foot down below 6000rpm, you need to give it about half throttle. above 6000rpm all goes crazy! i would definitely advise getting this kit.
Think my decision has just been made for me. Hangar111 have up’d the price of the ITG to 395.33 all in, thats about 100 dearer than the Pipercross.
