Indicator problems

Background:

Yesterday I seemed to have been cursed, but as I was indicating into work, I presumed my bulb went as the indicator was going double time and the front oval indicator was not working, on the way home both indicator were working “my hope of a simple problem, turned to ow **** this could be more of a problem”, this morning I thought Id give it a try, left indicator works correctly, right indicator causes both front indicator to come on, and the drivers side rear indicator comes on as well, but not the passenger rear indicator.

Seems like something is shorting or is there a control board for the indicators that may be faulty?

Any suggestions would be welcome, or would I be better just to book it into lotus and prepare for the bill lol

what i would do is try and replace the right hand one you think is not working properly, and go for there.

where abouts you live, as someone on here might be close that could help as its easier looking at things in person.

I’m based in Manchester, the bulb I initially thought had gone is working, its just when I indicate right that bulb, and left front indicator also comes on, rather then it being a bulb problem thinking that moisture and the cold snap has got to a relay or something unless a faulty bulb can cause that?!?!, but I could be talking rubbish lol.

When I get home tonight going to test what happens with the right indicator as it should be warmer than it was in the morning.

my rear right indicator bulb popped on me the other month and i didnt seem to have any problem with my other indicators going on, so i would recomend gettin the drawings for the indicators and going from there, if u need the drawings i think i have them on computer somewhere, just give me a pm and i will email u them

pm sent, after speaking with a few people i think it probably a loose or dirty earth connector it would explain why its moving to other bulbs

Well i’ve just got home and tested the indicators, both left and right working perfectly, think i’ll check the connectors and clean if needed at the weekend, wonder what light show they will give me tommorrow morning

I had water in my indicators which caused the bulb holder to corrode. This caused intermitnet indicators.

Unfortuantly you can’t buy a new lead without a new lense.

I’m going to check the connections this weekend, which would make sense as Ive seen bits of water vapour in that indicator.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions and Ash for the info he emailed. Hopefully Ill get it sorted  Wife doesnt like me using her car too much, as I forget it doesnt have 6 gears lol

Just had v similar. R front not working and R turn making the indicator speed increase. Next time out no indicators working. Hazards not working either. All lights work fine with alarm. Hazards and indicators use one relay, alarm has its own. Haz and ind have separate fuses. It’s all working now, the problem has not been traced, but it could be either connections to the relay(throw yourself head first into the passeger footwell, look up behind dash, 2 rectangular relays- check all connections), but most commonly (apparently) the hazard switch gets caught half way between on and off. If your hazards work, then thats not the prob. mine in very tight on the carbon fibre sheet that the console is tarted up with and seemed to catch on the switch
