In doubt.....

Hi

Quite a while I was here… Seems not much has changed… Still the same names around…

I am in doubt what to do. Sell my car now, and wait for the right car passing by (and switch brand), or upgrade…
(I wanted an old AM V8 for a long time, but prices are going sky high the last recent years)

If I don’t sell, I like to upgrade to a 260CUP ecu and keep it for a couple of years.

My car is a Chrome Orange 240Cup. With all the right bits… (big brake, roll cage, ext. buttons, fire ext. airco).
In my opinion the (only) right colour and configuration. for a S2.

My other cars are a Caterham R400 (K-series) a Esprit S2 JPS and as a daily drive a Landrover 130.

Please advice.

Cheers

Q.

What you looking for out of the car? B road stormer?

T

I love my S2 because I can comfortable drive it on longer routes (to south of Germany or UK). It runs always and is very reliable.
This is not possible in the Caterham. I miss however the extra excitement.

That’s what attracts me in the AM. It is comfortable, but the V8 sound gives that extra trill (but this car is now getting out of my league to its price).

Don’t know if the 260 will bring that excitement back. But it is than at least (in my opinion) the best S2 I can get.

Ohh, and it is getting harder to get in and out of the car :frowning: The rollcage is limiting the enterance a bit… And i get in a stage I can feel it (47 years old)

Sounds like you have a very interesting fleet configuration!

Your S2 sounds like an out-and-out track day weapon, do you use it on trackdays?

Anyways, it would be a shame to get rid of what sounds like a really great S2 but IMHO you’re missing something better suited to a GT type continent-crosser role. AMV8, Maserati GranSport that kinda thing,…something with a big-hearted NA V8. I can’t imagine the soundtrack would make up for the drop in excitement compared to the Exige but it would be a more pleasant place to cover distance in…and easier to get in and out of

I’m going to suggest trying an Evora too before someone else does

What :unamused: ???/// dificulty getting in the car at 47…Bldy He I’m 74 and dont have any problems at all… .

Get down to the gym, play tennis and go jogging or take up yoga…You have a really good car there and with the 260 uprgade you might just be able to keep up with me…

If you really have a problem with access get the front of the cage removed …its quite easy and keep the car.

Whatever you do HAVE FUN

Good call

MrBean…

I am 1,83 meter tall and weighting 95Kg… It is getting quite an exercise. I need to move my knee almost to my chin to get in.

Discussed the sell with my kids (4 girls). The oldest says it is only 3 years before she gets her driving license. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have send Rowland @ lotus motorsport a mail about the 260CUP ecu and 240R wheels. The 240R wheels are out of stock… ECU is not a problem…

So I guess it will stay for a couple of years in our family.

Did some trackday’s in the past. Last was in 2011. Making plans for 2015 now, but family agenda is almost fully booked. So another good reason not to sell 
Love to get back on track again however.

Sounds like a plan.

Dave at SeriouslyLotus stocks the 240R wheels :

I know I sound like a broken record, but if you only get out on circuit once next year, make it the annual Exiges.com day at Anglesey,…I guarantee you’ll enjoy it!

Same height and weight as me, but you are younger!!! Remove the front cage and its easy to get in and out
As Benja says
New 240R wheels in stock here

Lotus is offering:

MULTI SPOKE BLACK REAR A704G0002F

As 240R’s are not in stock. Don’t know how they look like (can’t find a number match)

Price Okey?

Is your car a Real Cup 240? If it is I do not think the 260 ECU upgrade will work, the Cup 240 were the first SC car and used cable throttle I think and an extra injector for more fuel.

The flywheel swap is optional not mandatory.

I had my 260 conversion done at Lotus Sport, prices are a bit higher than what I paid in 2009 but look about right. It is a great upgrade :sunglasses:

My car is a real 240CUP (No 37). ECU is stating CUP240 Part No ALS3M0017J
Electronic trottle body.

This was the first 240 electronic trottle body after the Exige 240R

Booked the car in for the upgrade. Have not decided for the wheels.

No not at all
All those parts prices are high - the pump and cap etc are here for much much less
http://www.seriouslylotus.com/fuel-pump-upgrade-kit-toyota-cars £229.95
Flywheel is not cheap as you say
Have a look at these
Ultra Light Steel Flywheel Toyota 2ZZ (Std Type Clutch)

The 240R wheels i have are in stock now in silver and also Satin black with centre caps

Ah yes, getting my Cup and R models confused LOL

…featherweight

As told befor, it was a while I was here…

I do only read about the lotus 260 CUP upgrade, not mutch about the Lotus 270 GT4 upgrade. How come?
Not worthwile?
